Product review: Wingtote Medium Heli Bag

The Wingtote Medium Heli Bag is a great solution for storing and transporting your helicopter.

The bag comes with re-inforced plastic sides (all 4 corners) that slide into zippered "pockets" inside the bag. Once they are installed (5 minutes of work), they turn the bag into a pretty solid box. The lid closes via dual zippers, which makes it easy to open quickly. The Wingtote Heli Bag has both a short carrying handle as well as a shoulder belt, which makes for easy transporting.

In the bottom of the tote, a piece of foam with cut-outs for the heli's skids and tail fin hold the helicopter in place nicely. Two sets of velcro straps are permanently sewn into the bottom of the bag, which allow you to easily secure the heli to the bag.

Personally, I tucked one set of straps under the foam (out of the way) and only use one set of straps right over the tail boom block to secure the heli nicely. This way I can insert and remove the heli very quickly and still have it secured very well.

There are two very large, zippered pouches on either end of the bag. One allows for storage of your transmitter, the other can be used for batteries, tools, etc. The pouches are very large and easily fit even my bulky DX6i remote.

Unfortunately, the end pouches have only one zipper, which slows me down a bit unzipping them all the way around to get my TX out. A double zipper would have been nice here. Also, it would have been nice if one of the pouches would have been segmented into smaller pouches to hold tools, individual batteries and parts more separately, but it works fine as is.

When stored in my trunk, the bag is very secure, and I'm not worried at all about the heli. I highly recommend the Wingtote Medium Heli Bag

- 2nd pouch could be divided into smaller compartments
- End-pouch zippers are single pull
- Top lid not completely solid and sags a little (very minor)
