Which FBL head for the T-Rex 450 SE v2?

I've dusted off my 450 SE v2 and seeing that I can experiment with a Tarrot FBL controller for small money I thought I'd convert her to FBL (before I do my Protos 500, prob with a Beastx).

I've got very confused over buying a FBL head for my SE v2 - all the ebay adds seem to refer to the 450 Pro/Sport, not the SE v2 I've followed lots of threads and have mainly gleamed:

Tarrot Split type dfc head (though I now believe that DFC is for flying without a swash??)

Is that really what I want? I just want a head to attach to my swash that is flybarless - preferably without changing my mainshafts as I have a load of spares, though that's not a deal breaker.

Any links to a product that works would be grand.

Just a quick question to to solve this problem as I seem to have it common in the log. Aside from that, heli flies well maintaining requested headspeed. I did a research but I found out that it is mostly applicable on nitro, any solution for a e heli? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, have any of you used the inner holes on the main blade grips to improve the geometry on Vbar or BeastX FBL controllers? I'm using shorter servo horn ball spacing, inner bellcrank holes, and shorter inner swash balls and am getting acceptable Vbar geometry numbers, but the swash movement is severely limited compered to my Ballistic. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

My LHS is flogging Blade 450 3D Basic for $160.

I had been interested in the 300X but this is $360 for the BNF.

I have in recent days been looking at buying a MCPX of ebay, but with postage this will be at least $150.

Makes me think I should just buy the 450 3D. What do you think?

I've been e-mailing with Mike about the Epic helicopter for quite a while now and I finally decided to go for it.
While I'm waiting on my kit to arrive I can only talk to you about my experiences with Mike. And he has been great. Always ready with an answer, always polite, etc.
I've been flying radio controlled models for almost 10 years now and until today I've never experienced such a service and devotion from one man and his small team at EPIC helis.

Thanks mike! I look forward to flying your bird!

700N crash - close call

It is a safety feature belonging there like a antiskid break on a car.

Yesterday we had a close call with a 700 Henseleit crashing 6 feet from where we where sitting an the tables full headspeed.
I just could yank up my arm before the eyes to protect from the flying debris.

The pilot lost control in his mind and let the heli fall without steering or switching TH.

Things to learn:

HC3SX on *EVERY HELI*.
*No manouver flying in strong winds* if you are not capable of handling the manouver 300% with weak wind.
*Switch TH immedeate* if you lose control or orientation or the HC3SX fails (which is very rare) -that minimizes potential injures and damages to the heli.

The impact was so hard that steel shafts where broken beside the standard damage (canopy, tail, blades, servogears, e.g.).

The HC3SX would have paid for itself alone from that single crash.

Things i would like to pass on from my many, many hours of flying experience:

If you lose orientation - ROTATE THE TAIL IMMEDEATE - that will unlock your brain.
If you are near people or ground - NO TRYING ANYTHING BEFORE THROTTLE HOLD
If you are unsecure in orientations - do not fly near spectators or USE A RELIABLE SAFETY SYSTEM set up by an expert (skookum, HC3SX e.g.)

Once youｴve seen the damage from a 700/800 at full headspeed and the debris you might rethink on investing 400 bucks in bling-bling/quicker servos or safety features.

I've been having problems getting this GA-250 gyro to work with this Corona DS919mg tail servo. I want that 0.03sec tail response time that the blade 450/450x/300x has. Has anyone had any luck with that particular gyro/servo combination? I was just about to try it out.

I know the HK 401B can work really well with the Corona DS919mg, I've got it working well on my Trex 450 SE, but the DX6i TX gain for that combo is like 50.5 or 51% which is REALLY low. I prefer to use these Corona tail servos on my flybarless helicopters because I know what settings work for them.

Can I prepare myself by trying this in the Sim?

Will it be very difficult, when I have only been flying HH?

I would expect the heli to drift slightly tail wise in the start of a hover until the tail has been properly tuned for rate mode...

On my Dx6i I run a gain setting of late 60'ies in HH, would it be fair to start with a value around 30 for rate?

Thank you!

Beastx has the blue light at 6 degrees, vbar has its optimal geometry, Im wondering is there a way to check if its ok on my goblin. For some reason i can pin point, the piros arnt locked in, and my tic tocs that look perfect on every other heli look like crap on the goblin. All I have to change is servo arm holes. And SAB gives specs on what works, and all my linkages are 90*, I do know the servos im using are to weak TQ wise for the goblins blade size, but im waiting for the RJX minis to come out. Maybe that is it, maybe I could move my balls on the arms to have more tq and see what that does, but should I not worry about this? My ikons fly great on everything else. And im 90% sure my crappy servos are to blame for these minor issues Im having but figured i would ask.

Weight and Flight time on 550sx?

Hi all, just wondering if someone can give me a flying weight (minus battery) of the 550sx please?

Also would like to know the flight time on 6s 5000mah and around 2300-2400HS?

I know both the questions are subjective and lots of variables but a reasonably close figure would be nice. The reason I ask is that I have a E5 on 6s 5000mah packs with 2350 on vbar gov and get 3:30. It has very good power and runs the same motor as the 550sx but I am only getting 3:30min flight times with 25% remaining. I would like to get up around 4:30min if possible but would be happy with 4mins. I feel the E5 is big and too heavy causing the reduced flight time.

when I had a brownout I got a align 35a esc and a couple days later got the cc bec going too. I saw some lower battery use when the align but even more using the bec too. before the upgrade with really light flying ( a few flips and rolls) at 75% throttle I was using about 850 mah and 90% about 950 or so. the align needs about 83% to be about the same power and 100% but the battery drain is much lower maybe 750 or lower on average and 850 at 100% plus I am flying a little bit harder.
this is for 5 minutes of flying.

Endurance of 440 motor loctite mod

I'm fairly new to the 450X and researched the 440 motor bearing problem quite a bit... perhaps to the point of making my head spin with all the different opinions regarding type of loctite, replacing the bearings, replacing the shaft, and even overall necessity. Longevity of stock motors appears to range from several dozen flights to a couple hundred flights. I'm curious about the endurance of modified motors... particularly those using loctite (or another substance) on the inner bearing race. I used blue loctite on two motors with mixed results. In both cases, the shaft grabbed quite a bit of loctite as it went through the bearing leaving a questionable amount on the inner race. One of the motors began sounding different after a couple of flights and closer inspection revealed lateral play in the shaft. Upon taking it apart, I found burn marks on the shaft and no sign of the loctite. The other motor appears fine after the same number of flights. I'm thinking about using another kind of loctite, perhaps a thinner variant, or even something entirely different... maybe a thin adhesive designed to bond flat surfaces together. I'm not particularly concerned about the ease of taking the motor apart again if I can guarantee permanently fixing this problem... at least long enough that I'll need to replace the motor for more typical reasons. What's the general consensus here on endurance of the loctite mod including variations of it? Thanks!

Has 5 turnigy Nano Tech 300 mAh 45-90c discharge 1s batteries and 6 Spyder 250 mAh 20c discharge Batteries. Heli flies great and in great shape with extra blades, tail shafts, original motor. next i have a like new MCPX BL brushless with 2 Eflite 2s 300 mAh batteries. they can be charged at 3C. heli has extra blades, tail blades, extra tail booms, tail supports, canopy gromets and extra head linkage rods. heli is in great shape and flies great. Both helis have their original charger and power adapter and they come in their own carrying case with see through plexi glass. I would be interested in trading for a JR 9303, 9503, DX8, DX7s radio thats in great shape. I can get more pics if needed. Shoot me a pm with what you got. Thank You!

Tarot 450 FBL head wobble

Hello dear Helifreaks,
I think I have a bit of head wobble in my Tarot 450 fbl head, and I got it like this since new.
Is there any way to eliminate this?
My main shaft is straight and the feathering shaft also no issue...Is there a chance I can make it work without buying another one, which also could be bad ?
I have it on a converter RCX 450 CF heli(similar to the storm 450)
Thanks for any ideas.
Cheers

I've recently went through 2 drive belts. My first belt I think was a little loose, so on the second one I made sure it was tight before every flight. Also made sure it was riding in the middle of main gear and everything is as per manual and Bert's build vids. This one was shredded to almost nothing after 6 or so flights... Any ideas? I'm running 20 t pinion with castle talon gov and quantum 1200 kv. Head speed at 2725. Thanks!

Ok I will probably open up a can of worm here but the Jive seem to be the preferred ESC with the TDR.

Why ? Yes I know Kontronic is great but what makes it so good for this heli ?

I just placed an order (email) for one and will use a 750-52 or 56 motor.

I have switched recently to Jeti TX and I am looking at may be using their ESC (Mezon)

Sorry for so many pics, I accidentally loaded them twice& can't delete extras.

_TP* 6S 5000mAh* Extreme V2 with 25C / 50-burst._ This battery has less than 10 Cycles on it, was a pair bought for a heli that was only tested for stability & then sold. I kept them thinking "I'll need them later" but I don't.
Its not beat up nor squished on the ends, solid as a rock. All cells balance & are at full voltage (I checked)

New they _sell for $299_.==>> http://thunderpowerrc.com/html/extreme-V2.html
and also here (same 299)==>>http://www.hangar-9.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=THP50006SXV
This is almost new, *_need $120 _*for it + Shipping.

I need pay for some good-quality 6s 3300+ batts for Trex 500, **_willing to trade_*.

These were a pair. I gave one to Steve in a parlay/trade. Ask him about the newness of them. He's got the other one.=."njsteveb450". (sorry buddy).

Let me set the scene. My 450X has all the Blade aluminum upgrades. Servos are 5065/5084. Scorpion -8 (12T pinion) is spun by an Align 35 amp ESC. I've had about 30 flights on it without a crash.

I decided it would be a good idea to install a CC 10 amp BEC. Now I have a horrible vibration at higher RPMs in IU. I can see the landing gear (skids) and tail fin in a violent blur. It starts to do the BeastX "right roll."

How can the addition of a separate BEC cause a mechanical vibration? Nothing else was changed. Like I said, its never been crashed. I've started to search for common causes of vibrations, but so far everything looks to be in order.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I picked up a Nano CP X today and had some problems. I used Blade's recommended settings for the DX6i but it kept changing parameters and I had to re bind it a few times.

Once things got sorted it flew pretty well but I did crash it a couple of times in the yard.

Now it's picked up a nasty shudder when I raise the collective. All the moving parts look OK but something isn't right. Here's a YouTube clip to demonstrate:

I have a T Rex 500 and from my understanding my electronics will fit the protos HS-5245MG for cyclic, Futaba S9254 for rudder, hobbywing 100a esc, beast x fbl unit. My align 430 cf blades should work as well. What has me puzzled is will the RJX fbl head fit the protos?

Hi Fellas,

So I was trying to find a way to modify the Mcp X V2 stock charger to parallel charge more than one 1S battery at a time, but I couldnt find anything that does not involve a seperate power supplier + Turnigy charger into the process...
Does anyone know a way of which I can modify/add control of the amper charging inside the stock charger??
Any help or tips would be highly appreciated.

Cheers,
Daniel

Dx7s frame rates with Ar7200bx?

I have Trex 700E V2 with the stock align servos. I recently got a DX7s radio to use with it. I noticed that there are 2 frame rates, 11 ms and 22 ms. I have Ar7200bx with a remote DSMX satelllite. What frame rate should I use?

Trying to set the end points on a new HV Ice 160 but it wont go into the setup mode when I turn on the Tx with the throttle at the full up position. No matter what I do the ESC just initializes when the battery is plugged in.

What am I missing?

Well, after some teething pains with some of the xtreme upgrade parts it is ready for maiden tomorrow, weather permiting. The xtreme steel tail pitch slider blew out it's bearings on 3rd test spool up. I loctited it back together with red high strength. The little pin that holds the tail hub to the tail shaft worked out enough to throw the tail hub and I also loctited that back in with red high strength. My xtreme titanium main rotor hub came in defective and went back to helidirect. I bought almost all my upgrades at tmkarc1 hobby and it was a big expensive order and they sent me some free stuff one of which was a rakon main rotor hub, so I cut the pitch link guides off and filed smooth and will use that until my replacement xtreme main rotor hub shows back up.

List of parts.

Spin 8000kv motor with 11 tooth pinion
hyperion vx 500mah 35c lipos. (3 so far and more coming)
xtreme carbon frame.
horizon/blade metal A and B gears. C and D to be changed to horizon/blade metal when available.
lynx one way cnc hub and main gear set with titanium one way main shaft. This is incredibly smooth after a little break in and the gear runs absolutey true with no wobble.
xtreme main grips.
xtreme tail grips with xtreme tail shaft.
xtreme stock tail servo holder with carbon pushrod for tail linkage.
xtreme tail case.
xtreme steel pitch slider
xtreme dfc arms.
xtreme v2 swash
lynx canopy posts.
lynx carbon fiber 3d tail fin with neon yellow trim monokote treatment.
kbdd extreme addition neon yellow tail blades.
kde xtreme flight main rotor blades.
blade canopy to be replaced with a fusuno when they come back in stock.
stock odds and ends like tail pitch lever and servo to swash rods and other stuff I forgot about LOL!

Whats normal for Vibe level with the main blades off while spinning the tail blades?

Here is mine. Is it too high?

http://www.helifreak.com/picture.php?albumid=10260&pictureid=86796

Assuming this is too high:
I think my tail is pretty good now after I just did some work taking the slop out of it and rebalancing it. Is it possibly my TT or a bent boom?

Hi I am new to flying. I have a 130x with micro heli tail and metal gears. Everything on the tail is new, not been crashed. When I power up to hover or fly the tail starts going left to right back and forth, 3-4inches each way. I have taken it to my local hobby store. They could not figure it out. They said I should send it back to horizon. Anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

Anyone have a 4 blade head that is using MCCPM?
I知 in the process of setting up a 4 blade head on an older raptor 90se. using 700mm spinblades.
I have an older spectrum dx7 with an ar7000 receiver, OS 91hz motor.
I知 using 4 align ds615 aind 1 ds 655 servos.
I知 using a Robird g31 gyro.
In the robird software there are 5 different swashplate types, and because of the way the Raptor mechanics work I have to use MCCPM
which I have never used before.
My question, is there any type of swash mixing that I have to put into the radio, or does the gyro do all the mixing under Mccpm?
I know that with the regular swash types the gyro does the mixing, but not sure if using mccpm.
All I want to do with the Heli is fly scale, as I知 going to put it in an a109 after test flying.
The spinblades are supposed to create slight lift a ) degrees pitch, so what pitch curve would you recommend,
also what radio and gyro settings, such as amount of expo and gain should I start off with?
Thanks guys for any help and information you can give me.

Well, just got a chance to trim the frame and pop the spin 8000 in. I got the Xtreme Spin 8000kv with connector. Put on the pinion, let it set overnight, and tried the motor this morning.

Well, i ha ve the xtreme OWB, and it seems the motor is spinning the wrong way. Is it normal? I hear people saying to just switch two wires... But does Xtreme not test to see they havent wired it up properly?

As for the wires... Is is best to just cut 2 of them, solder, heat shrink and reconnect?

The motor operated normally, but none of the servos worked. Several of us at the field, all of whom are 130x owners, put our heads together and determined that the problem was the 3-in-1 control unit. Evidently we were wrong because he invested in a new control unit and it didn't fix the problem. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

I have been trying it figure out for 2 weeks what is causing my heli to tip over to the right on take off. I went through everything: new main shaft, new feathering shaft (needed after the tip over), new tail rotor shaft, and when I went to replace the tail rotor hub I found the culprit. The screw holding the blade grip to the hub was completely out. The only thing holding it on was the ball link. Needless to say the tail hub was slightly bent so it was replaced too. Tomorrow I will try to put her back up. Hope I really found the culprit. :arggg:

Also I'll be using a 6S 3300 cause I already have a bunch of them, so what motor/ESC/pinion you recommend?

Also do you think I should convert it to flybarless (http://www.centuryheli.com/products/productdetail.htm?prtnm=CN2517&pageid=656)?

AS it reads... BNIB...

Was going to build. Changed mind. Never opened any bags. BRAND NEW.. .

This doesn't have a 3GX... If you want I can add a FU-Bar when it arrives in a week or so for an additional $65 but you would have to wait for it to get here. That is what I was going to put on it but since I am going to sell... I don't want it.

The FU-Bar's are nearly 70 shipped so you save $5....

This bird is normally 489 new... Helidirect has them for 390...

$375 shipped and insured to your place w/delivery conformation, no holding first come first serve!.

I don't know how else to explain this in the topic but basically

My right servo moves collectively with the rest in its full range downward buy when I turn the cyclic to the right it only moves down about half way. If I keep messing with it or sometimes just fly it it regains its full right cyclic movement. (Down on the servo travel) but most of the time it only goes half way.

Any ideas? Ill post a video tomorrow

But im wondering about the some aftermarket motors..all my buddies have DJI quads and the F550's but when i was checking them out up clsoe the stock motors seems very tiny to me..and that got me thinking if im gunna build mine slowly as funds come in that maybe i should get bigger motors or just different brand but same size

now do u guys think theirs even a point to get something different ones like scorpions ones or what not or just stick to the stock ones? cause the stock ones seems to do the job for everything the need it to so with all there FPV equipment setups......

so if u were u build from scratch and not just buy the full ESC and motor combo would u buy s aftermarket motors or just stick to the stock ones??

1) Reliability
2) How does the Jeti output differ from SBUS? I read that the Jeti output is PPM. Is SBUS digital/different, or are they the same?

Used Blade 300 X w/o AR7200BX (Heli Only + Original Box)

As the title states, I am selling a used Blade 300 X without the Spektrum AR7200BX Flybarless Control System. his is my own personal flyer, but I have decided to sell to fund another project.

I test flew this heli this morning, and it flew great. I gave the heli a once over, and replaced several parts that had a bit of wear and slight damage from several not so eloquent landings. Installed new parts include the main blades, landing gear, main gear, tail boom, tail belt and feathering shaft. This is a USED heli, and is being *SOLD AS IS*.

You can either add your own FBL Control System back in for a true BNF machine, or use this as a comprehensive parts heli...either way, it's all here and it's cheaper than buying all the parts individually as you break them. Because this is a used heli, I will not be issuing any refunds, as there may be hidden things that I'm missing that may not be absolutely perfect and free from issues. With that said, and from what I can see, the heli is free from any major issues or non-working parts. :peace

Includes complete heli (minus the AR7200BX) and original box only:

1 x Blade 300 X in Original Box
1 x E-flite 320H 4500Kv brushless motor installed (EFLM1160H)
1 x E-flite 25A S-BEC brushless ESC installed (EFLA325HB)
3 x 7.6-Gram DS76 Digital Sub-Micro Servo (EFLRDS76)
1 x 7.6-Gram Sub-Micro Digital Tail Servo (EFLRDS76T)
1 x Mini Helicopter Main Blade Holder (BLH4541)

Priced to sell. I'm asking *$SOLD SHIPPED* (48 Contiguous United States) via UPS Ground with Tracking Confirmation. It will be shipped in the original box, and nothing else is included other than the heli.

I have 100% positive trading rating feedback, so you can buy with confidence. If you want a painless, honest sale...this is the one. Thanks for looking! :cheers

Finally getting around to finishing my second e5-s, I was going to use a cc esc but decided to go a different route. I will be running a quantum 4135-530. My question is will the yge 90hv be enough or should I go bigger?

Hi all. A few weeks ago I flew my 550 into a tree. After replacing all the broken and bent parts, the servos are acting up. It has a BX on it, and the servos are Spektrum h6040.

Anyway, when I move the collective up and down, all three servos move real notchy,or jerky, in unison. Not just one or two doing this randomly, but all three at the same time, in formation. The swash stays perfectly level when it does this. When aileron and elevator inputs are used, they move smoothly, just as they should. What would be causing this? What can I do to fix it?

Transmitter is a DX8, and it works just fine with my 450, so there is nothing wrong with it. Thanks for any light you can shed on this problem. Jesse.

Trex 550E One Way Bearing

Ok I have a one way that needs changed on a Trex 550E v2. I have the hub off the gears and it has a thin bearing at the top of the hub and then the one way under that. My question is can I press the top bearing down onto the one way and force it all out at once or is there a flange in there that stops the bearings during install.

I plan to use the vise and socket method but I would like to be able to save the thin upper bearing if possible. Any help would be apreciated.
