Oldladypilot Thanks Iron, I still have my other 500.

Flying your 500 sounds like great therapy. May as well make the best of you're time off right?!!

Ironrotor OLP,

Sorry you had to let the 500 go, I understand about the medical bills. I just got out of the hospital. Unplanned back surgery! I am just now up and about after a couple of weeks.

I am flying the 500 as therapy!

Good luck with things.

I put it in the for sale section.
06-19-2012 07:57 PM
Oldladypilot I'm still here.
I see you got a quad...pretty cool!

Pretty much a ghost town here anymore. Kind of sad, we had it going there for awhile even if most of it was off topic! I still have my Bee and a whole bunch of parts for it. I take it out now and then when I get the chance.

I still have my HK500, I just figured the Trex would sell faster, but I hate to let all those expensive parts go with it. The servos, battery, gyro and receiver alone are worth a lot.

I've had more success with my planes but I haven't given up on the helis. I've got a real nice Corsair now along with my slightly beat up Mustang. The Champ of course, has been a real Champ! Cheap to fix and fun to fly. I can hand the controller over to most anybody and they have a blast with it. I've got some little LED lights on it for those late evening flights.

I'll let you know if I put this up in the for sale section. I'll have some better pictures with the parts included and everything.

JettaManDan wow..very sad you need to sell it OLP..but toally understand the reasoning..more important things and all...i WISH i had the $$ to buy it from you..i'd do it in a heartbeat to help you out but i just don't right now..i think you can sell it fast at that price...if no one picks it up let me know and give me the thread link in the FS sections and i'll spread the word and get you a buyer...

hope you'll come back and chat here still at least!

not a bad idea! right now i'm not about style..just functionality!

sucks you hurt it...i'm way too scared to try anything cool yet...

but my boss was away the past 3 days..so what did i do? i finished building my ebay 450 and took all the parts i gathered to rebuild (well really build from the ground up) my wrecked 500....and got as far as i could go on both of them while waiting for some parts...so it was a productive few days! I'm hoping to have 5 CP heli's flying or at least hovering for a heli evnet in a week and a half...

i just made my hybrid rod...took some 2mm carbon rod and used epoxy for it and the stock control rod and then ran some heatshrink over the 2 rod and shunk it and let the epoxy dry. So far it looks like a winner for me...lightweight and strong..we'll see how it does on a heli...
forgot i ordered 3mm carbon tube...lol! got 2 of them in ysterday and couldn't resist making 2 more CF tail control rods lol! This was easier than my sandwich and heat shrink setup for sure. Did the same thing though really...mixed up some epoxy...put one end in the tube and past the threads..then slathered on the epoxy on the metal rod...and slid it into the tube. Wiped off the excess that came out and let it sit. Done...couldn't be simplier! They are light and strong and with the metal and the carbon there is no flex..

took a few pics...

this 1st one is a couple of my rods made up...the white ones are the solid rod and metal rod sandwiched in heat shrink. I put epoxy on the 2 rods and then slid the heatshrink over and heated it to squeeze them together. Came out really good. The black ones are just the metal rods slid into the 3mm tubes...

and this is just a closeup of the ends..you can see the excess epoxy leaking out of them lol!

I have 2 more ot make tonight...the goal is to have a carbon hybrid rod for all my helis...all 3 of my 450's and my 2 500's...(one 500 still to rebuild) i hate the control rod flex and the stupid boom stays for them...will be glad to dump that system all together and see how this is...
