Show Off Your Wiring!
Here is my Sport. It's very simple, and was not hard to do. But it still looks clean!

Great job Lazor! Very clean. Wish my servos would arrive then I can
work on my wiring on my Pro. At 1st I thought I would have to get to the motor wires alot to unhook it for bench work. Then I realized that if I just set my Tcurve to 0-0-0-0-0 then the motor never fires up. So on my next build I'm gonna hide the motor wires too. |

Here are some photos of the wiring on my 450 Sport. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Everything is run inside the frames except the ESC and battery connectors.

Awesome! Heres my 450 Sport! I hid my wires inside the chassis to keep things simple. All the excess wire is organized near the receiver.
These pictures show just about every inch of my wiring.. Which isnt even meant to be seen.. Right quarter view of wiring with canopy on. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...21/intro-1.jpg quarter right view of receiver and wiring. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ld21/right.jpg Close up of wiring. Organized with zip-ties in rolls or coils. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/ronald21/rx.jpg Inside View. Gyro connected to the receiver, servo wires tucked neatly beside the gyro. Can you see the servo wires? http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...toreceiver.jpg ESC to motor.. I still twist my positive and negative wires from the esc to the battery to reduce interference like the AM/FM days... Thats why its kinked a bit. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...ald21/Left.jpg Servo wire routing. Ran the wires through a piece of fuel tubing to keep them from moving around and touching the mainshaft. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...d21/servos.jpg The front 2 servo wires are fastened to the frame below the elevator servo. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c1...21/routing.jpg |
Hey crpearson! Our wiring is pretty similar except for the esc to motor connection!
|
Nice! This thread is motivation to finish cleaning mine up but I haven't had a chance to go pick up braid.

At first I thought this might be cheating a bit as these pics are over two years old and were just what I had done on my first build.
But seeing how I found this thread steamed from a request for ideas, and with a bit of reference to the braided sleeve stuff, I figured it would be OK. Btw just in case anyone is wondering about them, the battery tray and metal frames were made by a company called CenterStick.com, that sadly is not making them any more. Btw, also in pic 2 you will see a fairly good shot of the plug joint I made, that is just to the starboard of the receiver, so that I could have a better disconnection spot for connecting the Castle Creations ESC up to the USB plug. |
Wanted to share my pics, but I've already posted them in another thread and can't post them here.
Can't find a way to "insert" the pic from the URL. Can't find a way to delete this post. WTF? Sorry. How do you insert a picture instead of uploading an attachment showing a thumbnail that requires you to click on it? http://www.helifreak.com/attachment....3&d=1280941487 http://www.helifreak.com/attachment....5&d=1280941487 http://www.helifreak.com/attachment....8&d=1285121097 |
Hey Intact,
Yeah... Actually our wiring is nearly identical! I like how you have put the receiver outside and routed the wires into it. Very very clean, and much more serviceable than mine. Getting the servos, esc and gyro plugged into my RX with it positioned inside the frame can be a real challenge. If I ever go out and buy a smaller RX, I'll probably do it the same way you have... Nice looking heli! |

I upload my pics to photobucket, and it will auto resize them to be the perfect size for the post. Then I copy the img code and paste it. |
Hey Guys this is Great!! Thanks for starting this tread so quickly after I asked! I just hope everyone shares pics of their helis, how they wired their stuff and what the pros and cons are of certain placements of the variety of electronics we have on these machines! It really does help alot when you are able to go on and look instead of fumbling around for hours with wires and such!
After 10 months of flying and numerous crashes, i decided to strip my bird down to the bare chassis and start again! This time with the wire braiding on! Ill post pics on here once its finished! Thanks once again! Oh, one more thing - is there any way we can get this "stickied" so we dont have to go hunting for it through the threads!? |

Swapping electronics is really plug and play. I upgraded my cyclics and it only took me 5 minutes to get it how it is in the pics. Hey vessel02, i got a tip for when you setup!! If it is gonna be hard to put in, it'll be hard to take out. Consider your options on how to route everything. If you look at my config and imagine swapping any single part of my electronics, you see it'd be a matter of a few minutes. Be it the esc, the gyro, the servos and even the receiver. |

If you add an attachment it'll be shown as a link while you edit the post. Again, right click on that to copy the link and you can insert it inline in the post. Steve |

I don't really like the AR7000, but it came with my DX7 and I just never got around to replacing it. I think it's really too big for a 450 heli. |
I think the AR6250 is probably the best for a 450.

Beautiful work guys and thanks for sharing, all of you.
Where do you buy the black mesh sleeve material? |
I use the standard black 1/8 inch from mcmaster-carr. Zip ties are from them too. Very cheap prices there. Check them out, just search sleeving mcmaster.com
