Has anyone actually used one? Keen to know more about it, very little info around.
I noticed revmax hobbies is selling them for $189, seems very cheap compared to other similar 3axis gyro's, does it mean they are a cheap fbl system and should be avoided? |

I´m installing a GT5 to my fbl MSH Protos.
At first that touch "button" felt a bit strange, but one gets used to it fast and then it is the best! I guess there are not many who have experience with this unit.. I have a couple of problems: 1. When I connect battery to Bec, rudder servo drives to one end and stays binding until GT5 has booted up. Some setting wrong? I set travel adjustment so servo does not bind in normal operation. It does this only when connecting power. 2. Swash menu, trying to adjust collective and ail/ele pitch. Collective adjusts ok, if I move stick to full positive pitch and change the value, swash moves and pitch changes. Ail and Ele - swash tilts if I move stick but fbl unit adjustment does not seem to move it at all. 3. If I increase total gain (from transmitter) amount of swash tilting in ail and ele- directions increases a lot when moving the stick. So much that servos are binding. Must be something I´m not getting right now.. I can setup microBeast, miniVbar and CGY750.

A little follow up.
1. TT has seen this happen with some cheap servos. -> try a big brand ($$) servo. Ok, so I tried with Futaba S9257. Problem is gone! imho, cheap fbl controller should work with cheap servos. Microbeast, Vbar and CGY750 all work just fine with that emax ES9257..

Yes, it does work. My PC at work was doing strange things. Wish we would hire a real IT person, Jeez. Anyway, just ordered one from Tower. We'll how it works.
Cheers

I received mine a few days ago from Revmax in Oz ($189AU - about the same US atm..) - looks really sweet..
Anyway - havn't had time to fit mine yet but a friend has one fitted to his new Raptor G4 and I had the chance to see it fly today doing some hard Smack 3D.. All I could say is "WOW"... this gyro is going to give vbar a run for it's money.. seriously.. It performed flawlessly over very hard stop maneuvers.. Tail didn't falter once and cyclic crisp and locked... piros were dead flat and smooth... Can't wait to try mine now..

Well after finding out about the issue with the vibe filter I took my X50 out for a fly yesterday. I was very impressed the heli sat like a rock but did not have the robot feel i've had from the vbar. While flying I made a few adjustments droped my total gain to 96% then I droped the eli and ali gains in the swash menu to 75% as I found the rates to be real quick. Still more testing to come.

I'm not so sure about this anymore, on the other thread, i learn that i can't adjust 'total gain' whatever that is, without a 7 ch Tx . How many here are using the DX6i?

Why can't you use the gyro gain channel? That's how I set mine up!
I don't know if you can assign a switch for different gain settings like I have in my DSX11 but you could set it up so you have say 60% in normal 85% in idle1 and 100% in idle2 just for the initial set up procedure so you can find the optimal gain!

I thought that was strange also. The manual says that when using the satellite receivers, the 7th channel is for total gain. But you only need 6 channels for an electric heli. You could just use a normal receiver and it's a non issue or just pick up a used DX7 for cheap.
I'm using mine on a nitro with a normal receiver and my 7th channel is for my governor so i can't test it.

Also if you can't use the gyro menu you can still use end points on channel 7 to effect gain. Just check on the gt5 display that it actually moves as you move endpoints

Ok, another question, if chnl7 on the GT5 is for proportional gain between tail & head (if i'm correct that is) then is chnl5 on the GT5 used for tail gain as normal?
my reason for this is that i've tried adjusting gyro gain in my Tx gyro menu (futaba 10c) & i cannot see any difference with + & - values (for rate & Hhold normally) on the GT5 display or with it's reaction (tail slider going to center in rate & staying put in Hhold)
