Chilling is hard when you have a FBL head waiting to be installed and don't want to buy a fbl controller twice. I think Spartan makes the best gyro on the market so I'm betting there will be a lot of used AR7200BX's and BX's in the for sale forum when it does get released.

By the time its arrived Spartan is in danger of lagging behind.
Align, Mikado and Skookum all have Gps aided systems in the testing phase

Mikado has a GPS unit coming out that will be incorporated into their fbl unit?

Everyone knows spartan took the tail gyro market by storm and will probably do the same with the fbl market IMO.

Unless it is so amazingly mind boggling better than my beastx I have no interest in it anymore. I did when vbar came out and heard spartan had something in the works but couldn't wait.

Withy he beastx works so well that I don't know really how something could be better. I am sure the same is said for vbar owners too.

Spartan needs to come out with something that blows peoples mind this late in the game or it's game over.

This reminds me of something the General Manager of the Chevrolet Police Vehicle department said when they were developing the new Caprice designed from the ground up to be a police vehicle, not a production vehicle with a "police package". When asked how it would compare with the current popular and very powerful Dodge Charger, the guy said something like - we didn't work this many years on this vehicle for it to be anything less than the best police vehicle available, it will have class leading acceleration and top speed. Upon release of the new Caprice, it did in fact live up to it's claims and expectations (149 mph, above the previously leading top speed of 145 mph from the Dodge Charger). Dodge answered the following year by increasing their Charger's top speed to 152, which I can personally vouch for.

This brings me back to Spartan and the Vortex. Angelos, knowing what he's up against, why would he possibly be working on and planning a release of something that was not designed to beat the current competition?

It doesn't have to blow people's minds, IMO. It just has to be a bit better. Afterall, he's not reinventing FBL, he's just stepping up the game.

I know what you are saying. But this go around there is a lot more competition. Back when the spartan gyro came out we had the likes of the gy401 and Logitech as the players. His gyro really rocked the scene. Then the other companies started coming out with better units.

In this case there are many excellent fbl systems out there that are quite established and people have invested a lot of money and time into them.

Also the prices have come down too and units are already getting really small.

I wish him all the best. He is a great guy and I know he won't release anything until it meets the spartan standard.

I must confess that my main interest here is simply the application of the pressure that the launch of this product will provide to other vendors. I have a Futaba CGY750 on my 500ESP which has a couple of shortcomings, which being software updateable, should be fixable. Good as the unit is, it could be better, and I hope that the launch of the Vortex will force Futaba to up their game and provide more timely fixes.

Being the best doesn't mean selling the most.

MacDonald's sells the most hamburgers, probably makes the most money.
But, I don't buy hamburger there to grill at home.

Might be one of the last out but as long as it works well, carries on the Spartan tradition, makes a profit, it's likely gauged a success for the customers and company.

For those already in the hobby, they've purchased, for those yet to enter the hobby, they will have yet another choice.

FBL isn't dead yet

Off to R J's, a local butcher...

I'll have to plan the timing of selling my BX perfectly, it needs to be before everyone else does the same and floods the market, but not so soon I'm left one heli down too long while I wait for the MSH or Sparton FBL unit
