Question about powering video tx

Hi,

I just finish building a quad and done a few flights with it and I love it, now I also ordered some FPV goggle and a camera with video tx/rx.

I run 4s lipo on my quad, and now I just read in the video tx spec that it need a 12v input, I want to know what others do to 4s setup with 12v video tx... not sure whats best.

Some solutions I though about are:

1) add a 3s lipo for video tx only, downside is that it will add some unneeded weight to the quad (only 3s I have are 2200mah from my trex450)

2) get a LM7812 voltage regulator transistor at the electronic shop and install it to get a cheap step-down 12v voltage regulator for powering the video tx

not sure if there is other options available, waiting for suggestions

Get a very small battery (400-900mah depending on video time you want). A 7812 only shells out 1A which might be a problem with powerful video transmitters...

It'll supply clean power to your tx, and you can adjust it to suit your power needs. Much lighter than another battery

Great find, I also like this better than having another battery on board, one less battery to charge and keep track of and much lighter...

I've just ordered one, thanks to you

Hopefully it'll get here around the same time as my fpv gear
