Ahaaaa. That I (obviously) did not know, I just assumed they were from the ESC.
Thanks again! ![]() edit: I'm such a dope! ...You specifically say that the sound is from the motor about 1 minute into your ESC tutorial video ...I guess that's what happens when I'm sleep deprived. Sorry for an 'already covered' question. Last edited by BeerInn; 02-05-2011 at 04:53 PM.. |

Can anyone tell me what battery I should get to use for my 450 setup instead of using my LIPO and ESC's BEC.

Quote:
1) Use the flight battery and the ESC's BEC. Of course you want to use caution and make sure your throttle hold is on, temporarily change your throttle curves to 0s across the board, and/or disengage your motor pinion from the main gear. 2) Use a spare external BEC. You can make up a connector to feed it from the balance or main leads of your flight pack and then you don't have to worry about anything spooling up at all since the ESC isn't even powered. If you want to power your receiver directly from a separate battery then determine what the max voltage input the your electronics can tolerate is and choose an appropriate battery source. You'd also have to make up a connector to connect the battery to your receiver. For my 450 I run the BEC at 6 volts so if I were to use a separate battery I would choose something that would provide 5-6 volts for setup. It seems easier to simply use one of the other two methods to me...?? ![]()

Bob I noticed in the video that you still had the round magnets on the wires. Do you really think they are necessary with Spektrum radios? I haven't used them in years with no issues..

That is not a round magnet, it's a ferrit ring. It has effect on the FM (35, 72, 75Mhz) radio, to reduce interference.
But on 2.4Ghz radio, you can remove it. |

thanks,That is what I thought. I don't know why I thought it was a magnet? but now that you say it ! just know it don't do anything from what I can tell with a Spektrum or any 2.4 radio.
