Well sometime you have to give a chance to somethings..

Today I decided it was time to clean up and out and toss a bunch of dust collecting stuff from years gone by.

As i was about to toss it all in the trash bin, I thought to myself wonder if there were enough useable parts to put a single bird together..

So after a very fast tear down of what appeared to be half way decent parts..
And 30 minutes on the bench I ended up with this rig.

Not too bad considering there is no FBL controller mounted.

Very cool! I'm building a multi-head 450, read several reports of people using / not using FBL controllers. What's your take on the subject?

Use the technology..you'll have a more enjoyable experience..
This is a junk yard dog I built so you get what you get... but it's still fun to fly

Hey pril! If you are referring to Rich, the last I heard he was pretty busy helping some of his neighbors rebuild after Hurricane Sandy. He may not be around here too much for the next while. We will just have to hold the fort for a bit.

Well this was a first for me...
While doing some testing on the next project...started to hear a strange sound coming from the bird.
Landed it and check out the possible normal causes.. didn't see anything out of the norm...
Spooled up again got up about 25 feet and heard this sound again...This time I see pieces of the main gear ejecting from the helicopter.

Auto it down, and to my surprise I find this..

Never had a pinion break up on me before...

It's called PWM in electronics, from the photo it looks like about 60% duty cycle, meaning 60% on and 40% off, didn't know you could regulate the speed of mechanical gear train that way as well
