I'm starting to dabble in AP work...can I use a 1.3 ghz video transmitter with my Aurora 9 that is 2.4 ghz and still reach up to 400' without a problem?

I had range problems without lowpass filter. So I suggest you to use lowpass filter.

I'm using 2.4 ghz futaba with 1.3 video downlink and on my 700, at about 400+ feet I get few glitches but overall good for a downlink, doubt it will be good for FPV flying with the standard antenna.

Be careful with GPS also. Some of the 1.3Ghz video channels second harmonics will disrupt GPS. I also had problems with the transmitter messing up my gimbal servos.
