btw, it uses 500E tail gears ( 4.68 ratio ) so head speed can be lower.. I just like it high..

I was just trying to come up with different ideas to get the frame set. I'm quite certain Align and the builder could come up with some agreement to have his design mass produced and he receive royalties from them. You see the interest that has been garnered by this design just in this thread. Imagine what it would be if it were wide spoken and people had the ability to buy them. This could easily start a new trend in heli's.

I can't find the motor he used in this bird. Is it customed wound or something? Couldn't find any motor that would work for a 10s or 12s 500. Unless I'm missing something.

My cnc machine is called KOSY. It is German made with machining area of 500mm x 300mm x 100mm.

I use Ironcad. It is not the best for this kind of stuff but I like it.

I will post more info about making the parts for others soon..

Really nice design and idea, although not very efficient. But something new is always wanted and interesting.
Your frame design looks very similar to modified PRO frame.
I also have CNC, made couple Aloy parts for my 500, but never thought making whole new frame. Old one looked kinda workhorse and can take much stress.
Thank you for new ideas, if I will be lack of power, I sure think about something like yours.

I don't see the inefficiency as well! He is only using 2 X 6S 1300mAh 35C. Funny thing is he could use 10c packs with this setup because the amp draw at 45v would be incredibly low.

Not very efficient, because 6s setup is enough for crazy power. I have HK4015-11250kv and my bird flies like on drugs. This 12s setup has more power (but do you really need that power) ? If yeas, in which situations or maneuvers ? And due to weight and 600 class motor flying times is low
Other thing is cost, which in this hobby is last thing to concern in, so cost better leave alone

This is the same as a 450 running on 6cells. The weight should be the same as a regular 500. He is just using more cells, but less mah. The motor is not a 600, but a special wound motor for 12cells. The packs as I stated before could be much cheaper for two than one quality 3000 6cell. The speed control could be a 40amp HV with no problems.

..and due that, like DerClown said, it is not that efficient.. but this heli was not designed to be efficient, it was designed to be super powerful.

1300mAH 10C packs or 40A ESC would have no chance with this motor. On hard 3D beating my 1300mAH batteries lasted only 2 minutes and came out too hot to touch.. and exploded at 50 cycles ( both Turnigy and Wölts )

Nowadays I am flying with 1800mAh 50C GensAces and getting 3:40 minutes @ 3200rpm and 4:30 to 5 minutes flying 3000rpm ( depending how much beating it gets ) those batteries have been great, no heat issues and over 100 cycles allready.

If I would have gone with a smaller motor it would have been efficient and wouldn't need high specs batteries or ESC.. but i wanted the POWER!

I want one just because I absolutely love the layout of the frames and the placement of the electronics, etc. What are some of the options for motor / ESC / batteries for guys who just want to run normal headspeed (2500 / 2700) range.

Also, any news on making this available as an upgrade kit with all the parts included?

How did you make those servo mounts?

I'm still learning all about CNC machining, but I've only done as much as 2D/2.5D so far and not anything that required multiple setups to machine different axis.

Just curious how you went about machining it then repositioning to machine the holes etc.
