I fired the ys120 sr up today for the first time today and I think I fried te motor. Set the mid and high to factory 2.5 out and firsed it up. The engine transitioned well so I decided to hover it. At about 5 seconds into a hover it made a single pop sound more like a ting. Anyone know were I can send it to see if I can have it repaired.

Just a little update, there is a monster hole in the piston. I dont see any pitting on the head but there was about 2 to 3 oz run through this engine is all. It was running good with lots of smoke and out of nowhere she popped. Anyway I am still trying to find a place to send it in. If you can give me a
Its already packed and ready to ship. Thanks.. |

Got the engine back from ys and have to say the customer service there is top notch. Very happy with them. Rebuilt engine is installed patiently waiting on the weather.

They replaced the piston and liner after they cleaned it up. They bench test the engine and all was well.
The engine went lean obviously, and there is alot of things still in the air. YS took care of me and by the way they handled it, they were not putting the blame on me nor did I ever once blame them. I was 100% honest with them and they seemed to appreciate that. Chances are, I should have been able to avoid it. I will take baby steps with this engine vs. the approach I ve taken with all the other YS engines I have owned. I was at the factory recommended 2.5 out on both screws and this happened. When I got the engine back, The mid was at 2 turns out (Were I assume the engine was bench run) and the high needle was pulled out for shipping. I installed a brand new check valve and have ordered a couple #4 enya glow plugs. It was rocommended not to use the O.S #8 plug by Y.S. Fingers crossed. |

I run the newly rebuilt 120 for the first time yesterday and have found the check valve was deffinately faulty. Replaced with a brand new check valve and it is running very very good. Did a little leaning (which I was not able to do when engine was damaged) and everything was running great. I started off at 2.5 on mid and high and turned the mid in about a quarter turn and was able to do a little hovering.

I am using the Byrons Rotor Rage 15% nitro. Got a case from A Main Hobbies. Supposed to be a special blend for the YS120.
