Align 600 DFC Pro - Pinion for 2300-2400 RPM's?
I had a few issues on my 600 DFC (stock 510kv motor, ICE2 HV80 ESC) and decided to go through my ESC settings. Originally, I was running governor high and realized the 2200rpm's that I had wanted for IU2 was in fact much higher (around 2400-2500). I changed to SET RPM and now my headspeed is down to 2200 rpm which is too slow for me now. This is currently running 12s.
What pinions are you guys running for 2300-2400rpms's? Are you experiencing any problems with these head speeds? The problem with the current 13T (stock gearing, 8.615 gear ratio) that I am running is that it limits me to 2230 for a motor efficiency of 95% and Castle has advised me against going with anything higher with the current gearing with SET RPM.

Mike A - You are correct.
I met with Clint from Castle Creations over the weekend and he explained everything in great detail to me. Basically, you could technically set the headspeed as high as you want but the motor power will never exceed 100%. So if you set it at 3000rpm head speed, the highest you'll get is 100% of the motor which would probably be around 2450-2550 depending on the KV of your motor, torque values, etc. Also, the deal about having it at or below 95% does not matter because again the motor will not exceed 100%. As you said, they calculate this at 3.7v and always allow a decent amount of headroom (5-10%) for their calculations. I'm back at 2400 rpm at set RPM and it's running great

For those of you running 2300 to 2400 can you let me know what blades you are using? Been running align 600 blades that came with 600l dominator at 2450. Just noti ed after about 200 flights or so that my blade holes are starting to elongate
Thanks

I run my 600 at 2450 using Align 600 3G Carbon Fiber Blades (AGNHD600E) and Align 600 95mm Carbon Fiber Tail Blade (AGNHQ0950B) for the past three years and I haven't noticed any issues like you described, yet! Carlos |

Running 2200 and occasionally up to 2350 and Align 600mm new edition blades, I have never had an issue with bolt hole elongating even after 300 flights on a set. Maybe your blade bolts are not in a good shape and are eating up the blade hole. Also ensure that you run your blades tight (I run mine very tight). And lastly, if the blade inserts are worn down but the actual CF around the holes is fine, then you may be able to swap the inserts out for new ones from another blade. After all, these inserts are removable.
Stock pinion with 600mx and Castle held great at 2350 and only time I felt the governor maxing out was when running a tired set of batteries.
