Default Another Align DS525M servo going bad

Last year August I decided to replace all the servos on my 500 EFL as the cyclic servos particularly had quite a lot of slop (DS510M). I was itching to go with MKS servos but felt that they were just too expensive. 82 flights later with the new servos and the new tail servo is going bad. Twice it happened now that, in flight, all is good, then when I land, hit TH and carry the heli to the bench and suddenly notice that the tail servo is not responding to gyro or stick inputs. If I nudge the tail push rod the servo jumps to life again. I did a quick search and found at least 3 other reports of this happening, apparently it is caused by the pot going bad. I have a spare ds520m that I am going to fit in its place, as I am not willing to risk an in flight failure.
Is there any sense in trying to clean the pot on this servo or should I just bin it as scrap?

I would just bin it as it is a relatively inexpensive servo. I am still using mine, but will be replacing it with a KST sometime this winter.

me too.

It's bummer they don't offer just the pot. Not even tell you what and where to get a replacement. The conversation stopped when I tried to find out the spec of the pot. In my case, the DS655 says 502 on it so I assume it's a 5Kohm. The last conversation was offering me some discount to get a replacement new unit. Despite so many identical reports of failing servo. it's time to say Get a life Align.
