Default What gauge is the servo wire?

I'm looking to make some custom servo wire extensions. But don't know what gauge wire to get. Anyone know what the "standard" wire gauge is for regular size servos?

Regular servos are 24 awg, heavy duty is 22 awg. You can also find some 20 awg, but I think it will be hard to fit a servo connector over that.

This shop is really great for servo wiring tools: http://www.hansenhobbies.com/product...ors/servowire/

Depending on your flying style if you are hard on servos go 22 gauge with good quality wire this will help with signal latency or loss over long extensions.

I am needing to make servo extensions. I have done this before, and was wondering what those who have like to use?

questions:

1. for HV system, (i will be using at least 55" length from rx to tail servos.) (this is for an airplane)

2. 22 gauge vs 20 gauge (i believe 24 is out of question)?

3. spiral vs straight?

if anyone knows, please let me know what has worked best for you, and where i can get it..

thank you

For long wires on high current servos I like 20 gauge twisted wires.

The wire gauge is determined by current draw and the size of the servos.

OP:: If you are going to start making your own extensions, just buy the Hansen kit with the special crimper and be done with it. guarantee you wont regret it.
