Don, welcome to THE Belt CP forum.

There are many things you can do to the belt - as the threads here show. Of particular note is the "Compatible Trex parts" thread, which gives you an idea of what we can upgrade. As regards servos, most opt for the TowerPro sg90, a straight fit, and easy upgrade.

We aim to help here, so leave no query un asked!!!!!!!!!

Mike

Hi
Just realised I hadn't posted any details of my DTS mod on this site.

I used a slightly different approach from the other mods on this thread. I only did the back two servo's because on mine the front link is smooth and slop free so I didn't reall see the point. Instead of using stock brackets I fabricated my own from a plastic condenser cover
from a car radiator but any suitable plastic or ally angle section would do as well.

The plastic is Just over 2mm thick and is very strong, it feels like the same stuff the frame is made of which seems to be standing up to my beginners knocks really well.

I feel the overall appearance is better than the off the shelf brackets as the 90 degree
angle looks part of the heli and not like an obvious add on.

I may make another pair with slightly different dimensions, if you notice the servo's are set a little wide in the mounts on these.

Also the UGT 05 swash plate I used is very wide and throws the links out of line slightly.
It's not enough to adversly affect its function but If I can find a smaller one with the AR pin on the right side I will be able to reduce the servo throws accordingly and that will reduce any differential induced negative expo caused by the servo arc..

Still I am pleased with it for a first attempt and it only took a few hours to do.

The heli definately flies much better with the mod

All the best Ian

It's great quality stuff for the price Mike though could do with finding a more appropriate swash, May get the pesky one and re anodise it.

I know I keep on about this Copter X head but it's such a bargin and I'm sure my heli flies as well as most Trex 450's

For some reason, I seem to be have poor pitch control. Roll is fine, as is collective, but the pitch is really much less responsive. All the servos are ok, swash is nice..mmmmmmm??????????

Hello Ian
Nice mod and very good pics. I like it ,its much easier to change a servo if bad things happen to it

[quote=DierWolf;661124]Pitch = Collective..

Sorry Wolfie, "returning back to type", as we say. Collective pitch was fine, it was elevator pitch which was reduced. All fine now after a bit of silicone oil lube and relaxing a couple of nuts, if you pardon the expression!!!!!!!!!!

I have been lurking on other forums and the SG90s have been coming up as a replacement for the ESkys 0500. Another suggestion has been DY (Dong Yang) 9gm units even cheaper than the SG90s. Anyone had any experience with the DY units?

The dong Yang servo's i believe are those servos with the red or blue bottom section, i have seen a couple people have them on their heli on other forums and really they didnt say anything bad about them.

They are digital servo's which might become a problem power wise when using 4 or even 3 of them with the Esky Belt CP ESC.. so i would not recommend them if your sticking to the esky ESC.

For everyones reference this is their site. http://www.dys.hk/

This is the ones i want the review on, its new for 2008, looks just like the SG90 but has all metal gears.

Been looking at your mod for the DTS again, Ian. Having buggered ny frame, I might do a similar bracket idea, as this will add to the frame strength, not take some away. So now I am on the hunt for some plastic with a 90 angle to have a go when my new frame comes!!!!!!!!!!
