Default Clutch Issues

So I smoked the clutch in my CAL 30 and re-installed the liner. I think I screwed it up because it drags enough that the engine won't idle and it wants to run in reverse. I was wondering from people with experience if it is typically a safe bet to sand the liner a bit to clear up some of the liner issues. if not then I will probably buy a new clutch bell and re install the liner. I was wondering about the glue for the liner, what does everyone use. I used the 5 minute epoxy not sure if it is good enough.

Default clutch

58dgriz,
No need to get a new bell unless the one you have is damaged.
Carefully remove the old liner with and exacto knife. Scrape away any old epoxy.
Use 30 or 45 min epoxy. Put one wrap of electrical tape around the clutch.
Prefit the liner before gluing to get it round. Apply a VERY thin coat of epoxy to one side
of the liner,it does not matter which side. Put in the liner and get it seated and use 70% rubbing alcohol to remove excess epoxy. Insert the clutch with the wrap of tape. Remove any excess epoxy and the let it set-up. When set, remove the clutch, remove the tape.
Then you will have the proper gap for the clutch to liner.
I hope this is of some small help.
Regards

Same as above but I use JB Weld. That way if I need to replace the liner later and the bearing is still good I soak it in acetone(pvc cleaner, I'm a plumber so I get this stuff free, don't tell the boss.) and after a few minutes it peels right out... clean as new. Wipe it off and reoil the bearing. I try to keep an extra set made up. Just keep the new clutch and bell together so they will be "matched".
