Default Anyone running a Scorpion 4025-550 in their 550SX?

I have a Scorpion HKIII-4025-550 with a 6mm shaft and would like to use it in a 12S 550SX V2. I have some questions:

1. Does anyone know of a suitable 6mm shaft, since I think Mikado only offers a 5mm pinion?

2. What batteries would fit?

3. Are the mounting holes in the Mikado Scorpions different than in regular Scorpions?

This would be my first Mikado heli. Thanks for your help.

If the shaft is the right length, you can go this route, if the gearing works.

Be sure to check that the motor has 30mm mount holes, other than that it should work with the mod1 gearing and 11/12t pinion. Shaft needs to be about 32mm to fully seat in the counter bearing.

In truth it really doesn't need 12s... Tried it myself and the extra weight offsets any performance gain. You'd do better to get a pyro 650-103 IMO.

It won't work then. The HKIII-4025-550 has 25mm mount holes. This also means that a regular, not Mikado rebranded, Scorpion 4025-1100 doesn't work either. I don't understand why Mikado does this, more people would buy their helis if they had more motor choices. I just have a new motor sitting here.

Thanks for the help everyone.

You can still use the old style 25mm motor mount but then you cant use the counterbearing and main bearing support.
Tho i dont think thats so critical on a 550.
On my old 12S 500 with 4035-500 motor i had no ill effects of running "mikado old style" without any third bearing on motor and mast

Whilst that motor won't work I have recently done some digging into what our motor options really are for the 550sx.

All new scorpion 4025-1100's from about may last year (both mikado branded and normal) now come with 25 and 30mm mount holes.

I also know (after speaking directly to them over email) that the xnova 4025-1100 is in the process of changing to 25/30mm spacing too.

Another motor that can work is the align 730mx, with the logo 690sx 14/15t pinions.

All of the above upgrades will require the mod1 gear, but that is no bad thing.
