Normally, you won't need to replace a BL motor. However, since this is the same size and build as the BL tail motor, no one knows how long they will last.

Here's my issue with the frame mods to run an outrunner... I only use my nano for practicing 3D indoors in a small space. Because of that I crash _a_lot_. I routinely have to replace frames (which is already a pain). I don't want to go through custom frame mods / setting mesh / etc every time I swap frames. For that reason the HH option looks attractive. I also don't need a ton more power indoors - I just want the motors to last longer.
Outdoors I have lots of other more stable helis and a lot bigger space to fly. The nano never leaves the house. |

With the Mild, you have that little extra to pull out of some move's. As far as breaking frames, I have had good luck with 5 Min. JB Weld on canopy pins. When the pins have re-broke about the 4th or 5th time, I use a small pin drill, and small round carbon fiber rod (Actually about 1/2 the size of the factory pin) and put it in with CA or JB Weld. Then I put a small drop of CA on the end of the CF rod, to act as a stop so the canopy does not just slide off. I just want to get it back up in the air. A friend of mine could not even live with the thought of this type of repair. 100 % of the time, I will do this repair. I am not afraid to push myself with the Nano, and now the thought of replacing frames is not in the back of my mind holding me back. My Nano is a tool for me, not to loose the skills honed when I can fly outside. As soon as I can fly outside, these go into a drawer for the season. |

Re: Factory BL Nano upgrade
Another option for the canopy pins is to strengthen them when the frame is new with some 1/32" music wire bent to shape, and attached to them with a thread wrap and CA, or heat shrink and CA.
I do the same thing, pin them with 1mm carbon rod when they break, which for me is hardly ever really.

The front pins should be a straight shot across below the stock pins. Does the music wire poke through the canopy or do you cut it short and use the stock pins for the canopy grommet? |

Factory BL Nano upgrade
I have an out runner from asteroid and a ruined esc and nano board I cooked while trying to solder it. I may get this upgrade and then swap In the out runner frame that I saved.
Dylwad, do you think this will work with your mild motors? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I will give it a try
I myself will buy a plug and play kit for the nano. I will buy the better batteries. I would like to try the upgrade for myself before someone tells me it isn't worth anything. At least it is a step in a better direction. If I really need something to wonder or complain about, I have an SR that I finally got to fly!

Ordering one to try. Also here good things about Dylwad mild setup. I fly mild 3D so if I can get little extra to try this with out bogging I be happy. I like to try Dylwad in my other stock nano. I Should just ship it to him to setup. I not good at soldering. All good stuff guys. Thx

Also only putting the canopy on the pins about half way, or cutting the pins down so the canopy ejects will save the pins, and the canopy usually.

I would LOVE this new motor but I ordered carbon blades for my 300x a day to late. Now I've got to save another $50.... Does anybody know of somewhere that's not sold out yet?

Sounds like a 450 Flybar may work just fine. |

Re: Factory BL Nano upgrade
That's way too big and heavy, you just need to strengthen them a little bit, adding a bunch of weight to the nano never works out for the better.

Isn't the upgrade BL motor the same one used in the Umx mig 15, if so yeah they have trouble on 3s lipo, so they should be ok on 1s. Could be a different motor, so I could be wrong, I haven't researched it at all.
