those running edge 353 blades, how tight in the grips
I am curious as to how tight you guy's that are running edge 353 main blades are tightening them in the grips on the mini protos. I find that on all my fbl helis that the blades need to be pretty darn tight but I got into this habit running the heavy radix 350 fbl blades in rjx grips on another heli to prevent blade lag on spool up. The rjx grips had to be tight, tight!! LOL!

Keep them so tight that when you tilt the heli on the side they will not fold, and fold when you shock the head a little bit by hand.

Trulsen is correct. I run mine a little tighter so that it takes a bit more then a jolt to move them. The thing I think is most important, is to have both blades tightened equally.

I tighten pretty right, I strong jolt will move them slightly.
I think the only time they need to move is when they are not perfect for first spool and when packing up. I always as straight as I can prior to spool.

I run them pretty tight and I did the same with SABs. The suggested metod works, but I find that to be a little too loose for my tastes. Especially if you run higher spoolup speeds, do click in autos or blade stops, you will need tighter blades in order to have fun.
Don't worry about vibrations from blades unable to lead and lag in flight. My VBar spectrum analyzer and log don't show a noticeable difference between loose and tight blades Well...given that you use balanced blades, anyway...

Someone told me that blades advance and retreat during flight, and so they need to be loose enough to be able to do that. The bigger the heli, the tighter the blades.

That is true, Chris. You would notice if they were too tight, the heli would wobble itself to pieces. Too loose blades will cause phasing issues which is a big no no especially with FBL helis.

Hmm, that might explain a couple things I have been noticing lately...

Well, before that someone enlightened me, I used to tighten the blades very tight, but they must've still been able to move in flight cos I never had any wobbles.

They would need to be really tight for this not to happen, I doubt it is even possible given the grips are plastic and the bolt has a shoulder (I think the bolt will bottom out first). There is a surprising amount of load on the blades in flight, if you can move them around by hand they are likely OK.
