Hey Finless,
I just wanted to thank you for all the time you put into those videos. They have been a tremendous help, and if it wasn't for them I think I would be lost in ccpm setup. Thank you, spec-soul |

Hi Bob,
Just want to add my thanks for these Videos, have just used two of the 450 set to get myself out of a mess caused by inexperience, and flown the result perfectly........well, I don't fly perfectly, but the Heli IS now capable!! Appropriately, this site has a "We are not worthy" Smilie............... |

Head scratching
Bob Love the videos, my son purchased a T-rex 450 se last year and Im just now getting it ready(Had no time while in A&P school) After watching the videos most of the assembly went well how ever I am near the end and I have two small bags left over one with two small bushings or spacers and another with alot of screws two ball links a frame type spacer ect. where the heck do these parts go? is this an upgrade? cant seem to figure it out. I can shoot you a pic if you like.
ANY assistance would be greatly appriciated. Bernie |

Align provides a "extra parts bag" and this is probably what your looking at.

I found your post with video links to setup the heli. They were more than a GREAT help. Do you have videos of the build and first flight checks and adjustments, mentioning thinks like belt tension, how tight the blade grips should grip the blades, position of flybar weights, how high the bird should be when looking for needed adjustment, what to look for in flight, etc.?
I need a little clarification the gyro setup. On your GY401 video, you suggest flying in HH mode all the time. I’m using a KDS K-7X, which has gyro settings. There’s a G1 and G2 setting which is selected with the IDLE switch. I guess this would be similar to “A” and “N” setting for the Futaba T7CHP. IDLE position gets the G2 signal. The other direction (normal) gets G1. Either can be set for any value -100 to 100. Any positive value is HH mode. Any value 0 or less is non-lock mode. That said, and if I understand your video correctly, during setup I should set G2 to a positive value and G1 to an equal negative value. I should then adjust my gyro limits. When the limits adjustments are done, set G1 to a positive value so that the gryo will be in HH mode all the time. Right? I watched ESC setup video. Does it matter which postion the IDLE switch is in when programming the ESC. I didn’t hear you mention it. I assume it was in Normal flight position since the motor was not running with the stick in the down position. One thing I have not seen in your videos is explanation of BEC voltage and amperage. What is the significance? Thanks |

When setting up your ESC, you want to make sure that the throttle curve is linear (i.e. 0,25,50,75,100) regardless of which flight mode you're in. You can program the final curves for flight after you're done programming the ESC.
Most BEC's are rated at either 5V or 6V. The only thing to worry about here is that some tail servos are recommended only for 5V use, when using one w/ a 6V BEC, a step-down between the gyro and servo is recommended. The current rating of the BEC should be matched to the draw from your setup. Many ESC's w/ a built-in BEC aren't capable of delivering enough current to supply full-size servos in a heli. That's why many pilots of larger electric helis power the Rx from a different source, however 450's are usually OK just being powered by the ESC. |

Hey Bob I can't seem to find any videos with installing the tail boom, belt, or tail in general !? I looked in other trex build threads but didn't see them.

I never did any for the 450. The 450 was when I first started doing videos and they were not full build videos back then only stuff people were having trouble with.
But I did do it for the HDX 450 which is pretty similar https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=11354 Bob

Finless, thank you for the work you've put into getting others to fly successfully. I just maidened my first CP heli the other day after working on it with no guidance other than what you've provided. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the info you put out there, as I just don't have the time to go out to a club field due to everyday life. thanks again!
