Default Tail blow out due to Low Headspeed

Is it possible to get Tail blow out on pitch pumps due to the headspeed/tail speed being too low?

Running a 300XL, Skookum 540, 136T slant cut main with 11t pinion, 3800 KV motor on 3S with a YEP 40 using Gov Store. Stunt mode is at 90%

According to MR. Mels with the store mode, I'm running 3050 RPM

Yeah, that's definitely possible since the speed of the tail is linked to the head speed. Past a certain critical threshold the tail isn't spinning fast enough to apply enough force to counteract the torque. There are a few ways around that people use on various models for low headspeed flying. One is to use larger tail blades, but that isn't always an option. The other is to change the gear ratio between the main shaft and the tail drive so that the tail is sped up in relation to the main shaft. No one really offers a "speed up" tail drive gear for the 300X though. It would basically have to be bigger (more teeth) than the stock tail drive gear. Of course the easiest solution is to increase the headspeed until the tail holds, 3000 RPM is pretty slow for 245-255mm blades.

Thanks for the input.

3000 rpm is not what I was shooting for, but after the initial test flight I double checked my set up with Mr. Mels.

I have some 450x tail blades that I can try. I am going to order a higher geared pinion and speed up the head and a Tach to get an actual reading.
