Heck of a pilot!
Nice flying and video job! I have just about all the parts needed ordered to build myself a TBS discovery quad. Did you use the TBS core on yours or go a different route? I'm planning on using the APM 2.5 with GPS on mine for the flight and video controller. I haven't decided whether or not to use a front mounted gimbal for my Gopro hero 3 black or not, seems like a lot of extra weight and for FPV flying it seems you would only want to look strait ahead all the time - right? What frequency are you using for the FPV transmissions, I haven't decided which one or how much output power from it I'll need. I know 3DR makes two different plug in telemetry modules for the APM which I was considering as an option but think I might be better off saving the weight (and power consumption) and using a higher output 5.8 or 1.2ghz transmitter for the FPV itself, any suggestions on that one? I am also debating wether or not to use a 72mhz PCM transmitter and receiver since the Gopro transmits on 2.4ghz and I've heard about interference issues from it with spread spectrum radio gear. I'd still like to use the Gopro's WIFI initially and upgrade this projects after it become flight worthy.
Can't wait until my parts come trickling in, many ordered from China so I don't think the build will start until early December. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. Hopefully I can figure out the APM and it works well, having 6 flight modes will be interesting.
