Heli fun fly for the north Idaho/Spokane Wa area in 2013.
Our club is wanting to have more funflys in 2013. We are wanting to do something that is helicopter specific. What I am looking for is people in the Spokane and surrounding areas as well as North Idaho and even western Montana to let me know if they would be interested. Our field is in Farragut State park, located about 20 miles north and east of Couer D Alene near Athol. There is camping and rv facilities in the park. We also host a 3D profile event every year as well with people coming up from as far away as Utah and it is a blast. 20 planes 3d-ing at the same time, the carnage can be epic at times.
Our plan is to have it be casual, maybe a few days depending on interest. Anyone is welcome whether you are new or a hardcore 3D guy or a scale guy. If it rotates we want to see it. Planes are fine as well, we have a top notch grass runway. It is a relaxed environment with fun being the main goal. If you have an interest post up on this thread and we will start planning. Thanks.

So we are now looking at June, maybe the second Saturday. We need to reserve the field from the park and then it will be locked in. We are still in the planning phase but we will frankly consider it a success if we can just see anyone but us fly a helicopter. We will most likely do some sort of food and such, more to come on that. It will be a strictly rotary wing event only so multi, scale, 3D even V22 Osprey if someone has one is welcome. We have decided no planes so those can be left at home. I hope to have a good start to something we can grow in the region.

Just saw this - sounds like a great idea. I fly with 2-3 heli pilots and I bet they would be interest as well. Once you confirm the date, let us know so I can confirm a camping site. I'd also be willing to put some flyers in the Spokane hobby shops.
Othello has gained a great reputation and has visitors from far and wide - you might get more people than you think. Doesn't everyone want to visit beautiful Northern Idaho? You might send a note to Dan Reed @ dan@rchelination.com He lives down south of Missoula plus can mention it on his podcast. All of this is assuming you don't mind some old farts!

So June 8th is the planned date. I know Dan, we talk on occasion but I'll let him know and hopefully he can make it. We have been trying to get him here for the last few years now.

Just booked a camping site at Farragut. Surprising there are many sites available (including our favorite at Snowberry).

Count me in!
Finally, something going on in the N.W. outside of Seattle. Plus I should have a whole new fleet to bring out. Including a new highly modified Warp 360. And Toby picked up a fairly large gasser. Paul, did Jeff Barrett pm you about hooking up with him in feb? Plus I need to get in contact with a few of our guys so I can help iron out their heli's before hand. I have some equipment to donate to them.
