Wireless transmitting?

Is there a product out in the market that would allow for wireless transmitting so you do not have to be conected to your desktop with the USB cable.
Heres my example : I have a laptop that i view through my LCD tv, I then fly my reflex sim through my laptop to project on to the tv.
I see that there are some wireless optical mice out there and keyboards that have a USB conection in them. My thought is that if you can use the wireless mouse to send the signal to the laptop then you could be that much more realistic. Go even further and shorten the USB cord from your transmitter to the wireless mouse and attach it right to the transmitter via velcro or off the transmitter handle somehow?
Hope this makes sense, whether it works or not is another story. If you have tried and know please feel free to comment.
