converting Trex 500 FB to FBless, suggested rotor head?
Does anyone know what type of head I am to use to convert my Trex 500 flybar to a flybarLESS heli?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Jon

If you dont want to go Align, you coulsd also go with the i2 head or the compass head.

I love my Tracx (compass) Head setup. It's the only FBL head i've ever worked with so I am biased. But it's beautiful for sure.
Good luck! |

I see you went with the i2 bearings and swash too?? Nice.... Yep, I'm not FBL yet on any of my heli's, but thats the head I want on my 500's.

Yes on the I2. I had purchased a brand new align swash and after two flights it was sloppier than a 20 something drunk girl. So I sent it back. I2 is a whole new level of quality . I'm sure their head is amazing, but the tracx / compass head works wonders as is. I'm a huge fan of the semiflexible links.

I went with an RJX head with my 500. Most of them are black, but I found a silver version that I picked up. Machine quality is very high. Beautiful head, with integrated swash driver arms. I also went with Trueblood green dampeners inside the head. The head block also comes with three pre-drilled holes for the jesus bolt, allowing you to choose what height you'd like the block to best work with your setup. I used the middle mounting hole for perfect swash driver arm geometry, but the head itself is very low - I was able to lower the blades by 9mm! Its now basically at DFC height.
The head came with ceramic bearings as well which was surprising. Rest of the setup is an i2rc collar, Microheli swash, and DaVinci turnbuckles throughout.

RJX stuff is also nice. I had a RJX head on my 450 pro and on a 500 I sold. I did find it hard to find the wash out arms when one broke in a crash. I do like the look of the silver one over the typical black.

Another vote for the RJX fbl head, which is what i have.
A friend of mine has the Tracx head from compass which is also nice.

I like the Compass tracx head due to its simplicity. It's a DFC technically, without the pitfalls.
Fewer parts (no swash follower arms) with great performance at mild or wild headspeeds. That said, the RJX, I2RC would also be excellent candidates. |
