Great flight! That shows just how light and nimble the Banshee really is. Every time I pick it up to go flying I wonder if I've grabbed the wrong heli!

Fantastic! Smaller lighter motor, heavier 5000 lipos and intermediate high rpm. Very very nice. Nico's flight style is beautiful too!!!

I understand it is just a shortened Pyro 700.

I'm one of many who have a Pyro 650-105 on my 550SX.
I saw one installed on an HD Cell 500 with only 470mm blades.

I think this just exemplifies how light a Banshee is.

What do you think that weighs in that configuration? 10 lbs ?

Correct shortend 700 (61.5mm) and 650 is 51.5mm and 3oz lighter. Not sure about size of pack as all I could find was 12S, so maybe 4500 or smaller??

It said on the video it's 5000 size packs. It is still impressive that a motor designed for 600 or 550 helis pulls the Banshee like that, and the setup is not on 4000 or 4400 lipos aiming for a light setup. It just takes advantage of the light motor to use 5000 sized lipos and still the rather small motor pulls perfectly. I am really surprised. I am using the 650 in my Logo 550SE!!!

Maybe it's a way of taming the Banshee??? Instead of monster motors and scary flights just a medium to low power setup that helps you fly more like a normal heli??

I think it supports the premise that the major limitation of power is lipo delivery, heavier motors probably just aren't getting the power they need from smaller lipos so the extra weight is wasted. Probably those 5000 packs into a less current hungry motor prevents voltage sag - fascinating stuff, would love to see logs!

Interesting observation, however my Banshee with Pyro 800 "feels" noticably more powerful than my TDR with Pyro 700 running identical 12S packs. Unless that is all in my head....

I think we are all guilty of weighing down the little ballerina with heavy amp eaters as we want the power for speed runs, but 3D has different power demands and as long as you have the skills to manage the collective PROPERLY this kind of setup works really well as we can see from the video.

Pyro 650 is the equivalent of the Scorpion 4525 and that seems to work just as well in a 700 size heli, even the ones built like a tank.....mmmm will maybe swop my hand wound 4530 for a lighter motor!

Sorry to say Peter but my Pyro 800-48 rewound motor will stay right there...more than 4min flight time with the banshee is scary enough...that heli makes me push my limits in flying!!

Totally agree with you, and it is something I have been thinking for a while.
Its easy to get carried away with the need for more power as it is an easier/faster upgrade than improving collective management.

I dropped from HK4530 to P800 and no issues now (I felt it weak before). I have flown my rewound P700 which is great but my skill level does not do it justice yet. Working on it though. My goal is to drop motor size as I improve.

Are you sure the 650 is the equivalent of a 4525 though?

Well done to Team Banshee for this thought provoking video and beautiful flying.

How could a Pyro 650 be the equivalent of a 4525 when a larger Pyro 700 isn't nearly that powerful.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nico would have been using the Pyro comp 650 103 (273081C) on 5000 6S...

Just my guess

I was thinking in the same line about a lower cell count but since the video said 12S I discarded that. There is no doubt that the Banshee could be well flown on an even lighter 6S or 8S setup with a smallish motor like the 650.

I am pretty sure that Vinger meant like a 4025.

How about we get Nico here to give us some insight? Or maybe we should be chit chatting in the Banshee private forum?!?
