Default 600 ESP Main Gear

I have a 600 ESP running on a 12s set up.

Can I replace the the main gear with the slanted or even the helical main? If so which one do I need?

Thanks,

AJ

Don't. Just use the Mod 1 Kde gear instead would be my advice. I blew through all the others and stripped them earlier. The slanted gears are much weaker in spite of the guys thinking they are.

Technically it is stronger because you have more surface contact than a straight cut.. However, I do not recommend them unless you have the third bearing block on your motor.

They are the same thing. The third option which is not available for the 600 is the herring bone.

Actually there are Herring Bone gears available for the Trex 600esp and Chaos 600. Scaleflying in Germany has them in mod 1 and mod 7. You will need their main gear housing also, as the main gear uses 4 screws instead of the usual 5 screws.

Default 600 ESP Main Gear

I'm setting a Trex 600, with a Scorpion HK4025 630KV motor and will run it on 10 cells.
My problem is I keep stripping the main gear.

That is great that they are available, but I still go back to the old thinking. If it isn't broke, don't fix it. I run stock gears on the 600 with no issues. I have tried the KDE one-way bearing and the 164T Trex 700 main gear. I had issues stripping it out unless the mesh was perfect.

Sadly the thinking that the slanted gears have more gear contact in equal thickness gears is a claim not supported by engineers. They rotate in and out of contact. So the patch is never fully engaged, but always partial. Which is why all racing transmissions throughout history use straight cut gears. We had this argument about a year and a half ago in the main threads. With numerous engineers commenting. Go read it. LMH

If you are going to post such a claim, you should post a link as well.

I fly the KDE mod 1 straight cut on my kframe 600 with a kde 600xf 530. Can't strip it even when I try.
