Thumbs up Align Speed Fuselage

Gotta hand it to Align, this this is beautiful. It seems heavy though, Kenny Ko usually goes really insane with the 850MX motor.

Default Align Speed Fuselage

Yah there was a pretty big thread on the new "goblin-like trex fuselage"

Love it !! I'm a big fan of company's coming out with a "wrap around" for their product. . The more that join in the better . I could care less who did what first . . Anyways - Choice between the two is great to have . Same ol, same ol Pod & Boom can get a bit drab after a few years. Excellent flying Kenny . .

Last edited by Dejavu*Xion; 03-29-2014 at 11:46 PM.. Reason: "Wrap around" . . . . Not full fuse . .My bad.

Absolitely amazing flying, but am I the only one who watched this til the end and was disappointed that there were no speed passes?

That was some incredible pilot skills. I love the final decent at the very end and than pop into a auto-rotation. Mind blown at how fast these machines can be during maneuvers such as this.

Align isn't trying to set any world speed records with this heli.

The current "speed heli" trend is a marketing tool since speed flying is becoming more noticed lately and has a bit of coolness about it. Synergy just introduced a Speed canopy, Goblin introduced a "Speed" heli.

The appearance is fine and if you love the looks, that works too. The JR Forza 700 has a tasteful wrap around canopy and boom shroud but wasn't promoted as a speed heli.

However if everyone now thinks a wrap around canopy and shroud is cool and "speed" is going to be a marketing tool for helis with this added weight and expense even if they aren't really going to be used for speed flying that's fine too.

Look at all the micro and small helis with wrap around TDR canopies. People love stuff that looks cool even if it doesn't actually make the heli fly better.

Kudos to the pilot !

Kind of; I see your point.

Guess I was expecting more "typical" speed runs in the vid.

Hey, I agree, what floats your boat.... Floats your boat.

I just kinda got excited when I saw the title thinking Align was entering the speed arena, and might have provided the masses an "affordable" speed machine.

Not trying to be negative (OP, sorry for the hijack). Kenny has some amazing skills. That auto at the end was incredible.

Wrap around canopies and shrouds have a lot of visibility in the air and if it comes under the heading of "speed" styling and people like it than why not?

And realistically you can learn to speed fly with any heli that is large enough to see and if Align makes a heli that gives more people the speed flying bug, that will just create more competition. If it feels fast and people are having fun that is all that matters.

Recently IRCHA introduced a "Sportsman" category limited to a 2,000 rpm head speed. I expect that will encourage more people to compete and it takes a lot of the cost out of competing.

Taking it to the next level is when it gets expensive fast. Running 2600+ rpm head speeds requires massive power, burns up high C batteries fast and can result in horrific crashes. It will be hard to make competing at that level more affordable.

Default Align Speed Fuselage

Never ceases to amaze me how someone much less 6 people could give that flight a thumbs down. Whats a guy have to do to impress them or are they just jealous?

Like the title of vid says: speed fuselage test flight.

Kenny did that with his impressive skills well in my eyes.

Next test will maybe be titled as: speed test of fuselage

Its because its You Tube, and the attraction for un-moderated nastiness and trolls seems huge there. I swear it's just a bunch of kids and losers trolling around from their Mom's basement making nasty comments and passing judgment on any video because they can. I've seen some really horrible and hurtful things posted for no reason at all no matter what the vid subject matter. I dont even bother reading the comments or ratings anymore, as most are useless nonsense.

If all they have done is remove the boom supports without adding a larger diameter boom to compensate (which will also require a new boom mount and tail unit mount) then they are going to have problems.
