3gx mounting on a trex 500elf with a speed canopy

I just got a 500elf that was already built but was never setup or flown. The 3gx is mounted on the gyro tray in the frame which is pretty tight space. I was thinking about moving the 3gx to top by the tail, but I noticed the canopy has a magnet on top to keep the back part of the canopy together and I didn't think being close to the 3gx would be a good idea. I'm going to use 2 spektrum satellite antennas. Has anyone had any experience mounting a 3gx on one of these things. If I put it on the gyro tray there won't be any getting to the pots on the 3gx, I don't if I'll have to this is my first 3gx and first fbl. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks

Can you attach it under the gyro tray?

I ended up mounting it on the gyro tray facing up. I use a short piece of coat hanger with a rubber tip and there's an opening on the top I stick the coat hanger through to push the set button. I can use my finger on the side opening by the 3gx and can push the set button but it's hard to see the lights that way
