Default Questions about 4G3/Novus CP

Okay here goes, I recently upgraded my 4G3 to the double BL Turbo Ace motors. The final weight is 79.6 grams. Is this to heavy? It has lots of power for about 20 sec. then slowly comes down. The last time out I did 4 hops for a total of 1 min., 10 sec.. At that point the battery voltage was 3.6 volts. When I recharged it it took only 98 mh. Running the battery at no more than 80% that should give me 3.6 mins. Does this sound right? I'm starting to think pitch vs head speed. Any body have any good settings for the WK 2801? My upgrade kit came with a Walkera TA CE700 Programmable ESC. I'm thinking maybe the voltage cut off and the timing may be wrong be it wont let me into programing mode. Any suggestions on entering programing mode? If so what should I set the timing at? I'm stumped on this one guys so any input would help! Thanks in advance! CDW

Try low pitch, high speed.

It's a possibility that it's a dud motor. I had one of those (bought the "top of the line" from Wow) and it didn't work out so well - ended up going with the standard Walkera brushless which has been a much better performer (for me at least).

Something else to try if you're not afraid to solder is going straight from the motor to the esc (no plugs) as it will increase the energy getting to the motor.

As for pitch/throttle curves, I've read somewhere that brushless motors are most efficient at 100% and that you're not really saving much energy by running slower. I can't substantiate that with any sort of technical data, just something I'm recalling. I run mine at 100% by position 1 and then tweak the pitch curve till I'm happy.

Other things that I've noticed can cause similar behavior on mine - damaged blades, bad tracking, misaligned paddles and the like.

Finally, what batteries are you running? I can't compare going from brushed to brushless as to how the stock batteries perform, but I found them to be completely inadequate for the DB setup.

I'd go so far to say that it's a probability that it's a dud motor. I also had one of those (also bought the "top of the line" from Wow) and it didn't work out so well - also ended up going with the standard Walkera brushless which has been a much better performer (for me at least). I use 18t and get plenty of power when it's balanced. I've had to replace the feathering shaft and put some tape on some new blade to balance it, but then she is good. If I were changing motors now, I'd get the hp06 or hp08. I fly with 400, 500, 600, 720, and 850mah batts, so the 80g's is not a problem as far as I'm concerned, but I don't do 3d.
