If you want more flying time, and this has been repeated several times, get something easier to fly and to repair.
+1
Small CP helis are generally NOT recommended for beginners, and you can't get much smaller than the 4G3

Thanks guys for the relation! lol

Dusty, that's a great link! reading it now.. never thought of wiki for rc helis...

I'm basically a bit disappointed with myself, I'm still not discouraged though! This rc heli thing is tough, and will take time and practice, practice, practice! I realize that now....

When I was asking about the brushless tail motor, it wasn't for performance so much as durability... I think the two small gears in the tail are prone to trouble, and somewhat of a weak link... the motor where the rotor sits directly on the shaft seems much more durable to me... I do understand that an "upgrade" like that requires more than just the motor... I don't mind turning screws... I'm just trying to keep in mind that I'm going to crash and break things... just trying to minimize the breaking.

I've been spending lots of sim time now, it feels pretty true to life with some of the models. I've cranked the wind, gusts, and turbulence up to where it feels like the few times I've been outside.... Only complaint now is that I can't seem to get my walkera radio to be recognized by Vista! So, I'm using a logitech platform style control....

I also wish I knew of someone close to me that I could learn from and watch for a while!

Anyone around Madison, WI???

Thanks again for the input! When I do get flying I'll give all the credit to all of you!

My plan is to buy a larger fixed pitch heli, though I have been looking at the 4-3 as well... as soon as funding permits I'll make another purchase... probably not collective pitch for now.

D

Cool! I'll give it a try, I tried while it's still on the heli, I couldn't get it, but if you say I can push it back in and it will work, I'll take it apart and try that way!

LOL! Well, after all the excitement of getting a heli, then realizing I won't be flying like a pro anytime soon... suddenly I'm interested in reading, and sims!

Thanks for re-posting anyway...
