Default Just bought a used Copterworks AF25B

I found a deal of the century, and pulled the trigger on a former NRI airframe. Needs electronics, head, and landing gear, but will be a fun project. I actually have an older spare Caliber 90 head that might work if the mainshaft is 12mm.

This is going to be an awesome project!

Neat, always been intrigued by the CW machines. Keep us updated on how it works for you. Is there a parts legacy on them, or is it hit or miss getting parts? Either way it looks like a fine piece of craftsmanship.

It should be easy getting parts direct from CW. I emailed Garnik there and he responded right back regarding parts availability being a non-issue.

What is the price of a CW rotor assembly for this model?

I don't have a parts/price list yet. I'm sure it's at least an entire leg and maybe half an arm

I like this industrial machine. Hope to see one in action someday.

Yeah, you can go to www.copterworks.com or Google "Copterworks AF25B"

There's some pics and video available all over the net.

I owned an AF25B for a short period.
I hope you have the rest of the parts.
Other wise you are looking at thousands of dollars before you get that bird in the air.

I have price sheets from Garnik, so I know what the budget will be. When I get the bird here, then I will know better where it stands.

This isn't a weekend project, obviously. I would like to have it flying by IRCHA, though.

I used to fly those beasts.

Here's a couple of videos.

You might know this bird, as it was a former NRI aircraft.

Expensive parts for this heli. I think for the main gear it's something like $200?

I'd like to have one of these someday.

Good luck!

I might, depends on when and who owned it originally. They flew well with the autopilot.

IMO I would install a Carvec or Profi over the DJI.

Based on what? Profi is twice the cost of DJI, but not twice the performance. Carvec is ancient and over-priced by modern standards. I can get a full-function commercial autopilot from Procerus for $10K with GCS and mapping software.

Naw, DJI fits my requirements just nicely. It's a moot point anyways, since I can afford none of them at the moment.

You should contact John C before calling it ancient.

Yes Profi is twice the cost no doubt. CAPTRON's software is a lot more mature than DJI's.

You have more control of the heli on a Profi than you do on a DJI. Profi's attitude mode (horizontal hold) is light years ahead of DJI's attitude mode.

Fair enough I suppose. I can hold attitude just fine, and don't really need that. If I need the system on, it will be on full auto, as in alt and position holding.
