Try changing it to 8 to 10mm and reset the end points.

The gyro should lay flat.

Alex. Review the instructions on page 14 of your manual. Top right corner shows which hole to put the ball in on the servo horn and make sure your using the correct servo horn.

Not sure how the gains are set up in the Tx of yours...but in alot of Tx.. the gains are set from 0 to 100, 50% being neutral. I know Futabas are set up 100 to 0 to 100 with 0 as neutral.
With 0 to 100.. anything over 50% is HH, anything below is rate mode.
You want to start at about 65%, raising and lowering the gain alittle at a time to try to stop the wag.
19mm sounds like an awful lot for the tail link on the servo arm. Mine is 10mm on all my 500's.

RE the gyro....I believe it doesnt matter which way it faces as long as its not on its edge????

OH.. I should explain....my gyro gain is in the AUX2 slot on the Rx, which corrosponds with the switch on my Tx for AUX/GYRO....in the Tx, I have the switch when its at 0 set to HH ( 68%) mode.. and when the switch is set to 1, its set to 40% ( rate mode ) I use rate mode to center the tail blades before spooling up sometimes. I fly in rate once in awhile.. just to have some different practice...

Yes the ball should be close to 10mm. Where did you read 19? If your ball is out 19 that is your problem right there

I'm such an idiot ! I just measured it and it is at 10mm don't know what I was thinking with 19 . ( I must lay off the beer) so that's not the problem .

So new gyro pads and twist to 45° is the next thing to try , but it seem that no one has heard of this.

I will have my beer next weekend Alex! Glad we sorted the tail issues. I think once heli has had a few more flights it will settle in and the trim issues can be sorted, I think the ball links are a little tight still on the head but that's nomal on any new heli. I forgot to look at the gain on the gyro as its got a bit of a wag in ff flight. Hell of a lot more exciting than planks eh!

Can't thank you enough for your Time and patience with my heli

Just to say to guys having tail issues with the align gyro on the 500 try twisting the gyro to 45° still flat but twist it. It may not work for you all but mine has gone from jelly to rock just with this mod
If Ian would like to pitch in with why it worked as I'm still a noob

I had the best pilot to help with mine , top guy, still has plenty of time to help a noob out .

I love this hobby

Thats a first for me!!!!
Glad you got it worked out. I'd like to know more about this, as I've never heard of turning any gyro 45° to sop a tail wag.
Congrats!!!

I think quite a few of us are going to have to stick that in our bag of tricks. I had never heard of it before either.

Thanks for sharing!

I really am still not sure why it works its something to do with the position of the sensors
. Its not the first time its been done at the club.

Alex, you are a bit in front of me. I went mad over Christmas. I bought a Beast X for my Gaui 255 to X2 conversion and suddenly thought 'what am I doing?' and bought the DFC head and swash for the ESP and slapped it all on that instead! I also put a Pro tail case, grips and upgraded pitch slider on it. I took it out on Sunday for the maiden but luckily realised that I had forgotten to put the retaining screws on the servo arms Spooled it up on the ground and it sounds sweet. Next Sunday is the big day if the weather keeps off. Congrats on getting yours into the air, that is brilliant. PS Fast Lads have a tenner off the orange carry bag if you need one.
