Are you guys planning on running a regulator off the main packs, or just a 2s lipo to feed your servos? I am thinking about a WR super BEC off the main lipos so I don't have another pack to charge, but I'm not sure yet. Thoughts?

I'm thinking 7,4V WR Super BEC with BLS451 if I buy a Xxtreme 700

@ sgrim80,

All of 2011 we ran a WR BEC on the XXtreme 800 (powered off 14S). In over 1000 flights on three different helis one unit failed. In the end, all things considered, I'd consider the WR BEC to be a reliable option. Other electronics on helis are more prone to failure than the BEC (as a general rule in my opinion).

All this season we've used a 2S 1350mah lipo to power Kyle's Logo 700's. Over 1000 flights on three helis, but no failures.

However, I just learned yesterday from a guy I know who had his XXtreme 800 lose control, because he forgot to charge the 2S lipo. That counts as a "failure".

I guess if you could desipline yourself to keep the 2S charged, it would be the most reliable option. That's our current philosophy FWIW.

Thanks Dave...that's my "beef" with the rx pack option. Its another lipo to remember to keep charged. I've seen many a heli go out of control because the owner forgot to charge their rx pack. Thankfully no injuries that I've witnessed. May also look into that new Scorpion back up unit that just came out in addition to the WR BEC.

This is what I'm going to do. It is really small and would work great. Scorpion had some at IRCHA. Very nice product.

It doesn't charge off the BEC, sadly, so same charge risk as a LiPo backup I think.

It should stay charged for LONG periods as it is just a 2 cell lipo and a regulator integrated to make things 5v. It should stay charged because it should not be functioning very often or there is another problem.

What the realistic charge life of it is before it needs charging I would sure like to know.

I really like running my BEC off the first 6s pack. It allows the BEC to run cooler as well and opens up the options to BECs capable of 10s max input. I also love that I can power up my radio gear by plugging in the first pack and I don't have to worry about my ESC doing anything scary.

I run 2 separate 2s lipos on my logo xxtreme. Its a good thing i do as last weekend i notice a solder joint failed on one of my battery connectors. Would of lost the heli without the redundancy. Some people think its overkill and adds unnecessary weight. However, an out of control 800 class heli can be deadly.

very good. My setup will be:
logo700 xtreme.
Hv futaba servos all over
Kontronik kosmik 160hv
2x6s nano tec 65c 5000mah.
Beastx version3
713mm. edge… and 115mm. on tail of course
Stock motor that it comes with(HK 4525-520)
Futaba sbuz rx
Going to setup BEC on 7,4(or 8volts) volts and no extra battery pack(2s) for me. I trust BEC on kosmik.
this is my setup witch is working for me…I have been flying with beastx many years(since it came to marked) and it works perfect for me. i am looking forward to get my logo700. I have paid deposit for logo700 on KSMMODEL.COM in hongkong.so I am on waiting list. Only one issue: here in Norway the weather is getting worse and winter is near. Good luck with your logo700 xtremeJJJ

Default Tail blades

Are the 105-106mm tail blades not fit for the job?

No 105mm is perfect for the logo 700. The reason you see 115s on some other 700s is because they have a low tail gear ratio or poor geometry on the tail.

105s are fine, 115s may be preferable if you run a low headspeed.
