I can't really read the text, but does that say 78A max? I'm starting to wonder if my CC60 is gonna be enough headroom for these new G3 lipos!! Maybe I'll just stay away from the 35C!

Could be all due to high pitch, you can really get it up there if you bog the motor down.

Don't worry you would still need to draw the amps. Check out the specs for the CC60. I bet it has a burst rate much higher than 60 amps.

Of course after I showed Tailboom these lipos he buys all of them up and there are none left for me! Hopefully they will come back in stock by the time I finish my protos.

Sorry buddy, but from your initial posts it sounded like you wanted to wait until we test them and are happy with them

I think the 35C, stock motor with 15T pinion will blow this heli up if you go 100 percent throttle!

Hey,

In the meanwhile you might want to get a pack or two of these:
[ame]https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=126580[/ame]

I would have bought a bunch of them, if I had not known about the new Hyperions.

Best,
Frank

Edit: Just bought 2 XPS 2500 Mah 30-50C Lipos! Only 410g. Will let you guys know how they are when I get them. They should be top notch.

Hmm, what connector type are you using with your batteries guys?

I use Hobby King Deans. They are ribbed for pleasure and work well enough.

So are the Hyperion lipos better than Zippys?

Thanks

I have not charged or flown mine yet. I will report back when I do. been tied up and have only recently repaired my Protos, just have to make the time to resetup and add the new gy520 gyro. When I do find the time, I have been flying the Trex600N

- my experience thus far is that they are indeed a different animal from other currently available lipos. i am evaluating them on my rave. they are vx 2200 35c 3s packs (3ea). my comparison is against my outrage 2200 30c 3s packs (3ea). i have cycled the hyperions over 100 times at a charge rate of 3c (18min to put back 70%). they have more power at spool up and more importantly, they have more at the end. they take about 20 cycles before they really show how strong they are, and after over 100 cycles at 3c they still perform as new.

Thanks a lot for sharing! I am glad to hear that.

I have started to use them on my Protos, and so far have been very happy. I can second your experience, starting off well and then holding the voltage nicely over the whole discharge. I am using the CX version.

I'm using the 6s VX 35c version on both the Protos and the T-Rex 500, and they are really strong.
I also have 3 6s 25C 3000mAh Outrage packs. I can't tell the difference in the begining of the flight between the Outrages and the Hyperions, but at the end of it, I have more headspeed with the G3 Lipos.

Someone at my filed told me the G3's are just Enerland cells. Anyone know any truth in that?

Hmmmm? those Enerland shrink wraps must be quite expensive or the manufacturers of 'blue' shrink wraps were over produced and sold really cheap!

So anyone get more than 50 cylces on their G3 packs???

Over 50 cycles and 3 crashes here.
Same power and capacity as day one.

Hi,

Just came back from IRCHA 2009. Fantastic event!

I attended the Hyperion seminar and talked to one of the Empire Hobbies rep.

Here is a brief recap:

- 5C charge without reduction of cycle life
- 4x cycle life means beyond 400 cycles
- 80% discharge rule NOT applicable anymore. Just keep discharge voltage above 3.0V/cell at all time, and balance charge every time
- 60% storage rule STILL applicable. Charge your lipos to approx. 3.85V/cell when not in use, not less, not more.
- Break-in of packs NOT needed. However, full potential of packs develop after cycle 30-40.
- Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Best,
Frank

I would keep 80% rule, when going past the 80% battery can heat up and it can puff if you do it continuously. Doesn't happen right away but I have gone several times with one of my pack to say its getting puffy. However it has taken quit of an abuse from me.
