Default 3GX resets itself mid-air

Found a very serious problem today, when 4 mins into the flight 3GX decide to reset all settings back to factory default. So my tail servo being narrow band (BLS251) completely not worked, and the cyclic compensation went backwards, and also since throttle servo was attached to 3GX that "hanged" at idle up setting as well.

It went down from decent height piro-flipping all the way to earth.... Needless to say, NOT HAPPY...

Anyone else had this problem?

This was the 8th flight on 3GX and a new heli too. When it was working, it was flying very well, "almost" perfect...

Version 1.1

I'm talking about a factory default reset. Power interruptions don't do that.

I'm using Gyphon CCPM regulator and the power was 85% left in receiver pack when I measured. All connectors into and out of 3GX and regulators were hot glued, and all wires are cable wrapped and neated tied.

It's a nitro heli btw.

Its been connected via Futaba S-bus. Only Spektrum Satellite receivers uses built in fail safe.

I've setup 6 3G systems from scratch from V2, 2.1 and 3 and this is first time happened.... utterly lost all my settings, including those setup in DIR mode, tail mode and Gov mode !!??

Highly doubt it. I'd trust proven JR or Futaba radio technology any day over a brand-new Align electronic FBL system.

Thats a weird one.

I don't think there is anything wrong with a single plug SBus setup. It's by far the cleanest setup on the market (not saying its any better than JR/Spek). Plus, it wouldn't reset to defaults if the plug just "came loose," as I think you're implying...

I've flown an SBus equipped 600N for many flights and have yet to see any problems (either electronic, or of the "plug getting loose" nature).

Of course, that's on a Futaba FBL unit. I can't say the same for Align's implementation of the SBus system. Maybe a firmware bug?

Yep.........buggy. Thats alot of info to get transfered through a single plug without any redundancy. No implications...just what I observe.

Peace!

Enjoy the chase.....

It is not a power cycle reset / restart. Again 3GX completely resets itself to factory default where all the DIR setup and cyclic reverse compensation and even down to the tail gyro from 760 narrow band back to 1520 band! So it has nothing to do with receiver problems / power issues.

Most likely it is buggy firmware version 1.1

This is quite disappointing as I've been quite a fan of the older 3G

Hi

It happened to me too yesterday. It crashed my trex 600 nitro because of the 3GX. It reset it self at hovering 3 feet up after 3 minutes flight nearly hit me cause it came back towards me with no controls.

After the crash I found that cyclic compensation is reverse and the tail lost its limit.

Also it is brand new and firmware 1.0.

I will report Align to inform them .

I know how u feel Jescut, i started running backwards too when it lost complete control and in idle up! Throttle hold and cut were not available due to throttle servo controlled by 3GX!
So this is happening to both V1.0 and V1.1 !!!!

I sent it back from where I bought it and he is going to replace it with a new one. But the test flight of the new one is going to be different cause I am not risking to smash the helicopter again because of this thing. I am going to put a piece of straight wood under the undercarriage with some weights in its sides and leave it working for 10 minutes at 0 deg
pitch and see if something goes wrong.

Sorry to hear about this guys :/
I have one 3GX v1.1 on my 450Pro and has been working perfectly for some 25-ish flights.
Was this happening on your first flight, or how many flights did you have before it went into factory default?

Just an idea, and don't know if your heli's are belt driven or not, but static? could that be the reason?

About to put my second 3GX v1.1 in my 250, but I really don't like the idea of factory reset in mid air....

ps.
Running JR DSX12 and dual DSM2 sats in the 450, and it'll be the same in the 250.
ds.

So, question? Have you all reported to Align??? I'm sure the more people contact them, the faster it seems they ( Align ) will look into this...!
And this will help all of us!
