Default New (to me) Raptor 90SE

Hi folks, Im new to the Raptor forum and have a 90SE on its way from a member of this site.

I have a few questions:

Has somebody made a test stand for a heli this size. Its easy to tune a plane while someone holds it but how do you tune a heli engine before flight? This has a OS91 engine. I think a heavy stand will enable engine testing as well as control. It would have to be high enough so that main blades are above head height. And stable enough not to topple over. Just curious if this is feasible, stupid or whatever.

I bought radix 710mm CF blades for it and a Co-Pilot II system that I may need a hand on the install and setup. If I do I will make a new post in flight stabilization.

This will be my first nitro bird and any other tips and suggestions would be great. I do have some raptor buddies that can help me out locally here as well.

Test stand= bad idea. Get local help for tuning and initial setup if possible. Nitros aren't brain surgery, but there are a few things you will need to learn. Local help can save you a ton of headaches and a bunch of time.

Flew the raptor for the first time today. The heli needed 19 click rear elev and 6 clicks right aile trim to hover. So something is off and wondering what I might need to look at first. With so much rearward trim this eliminates alot of further rearward movement by the stick normally. Nothing added to the nose to make it so nose heavy. Ill check CG tomorrow morning as soon as I can but I cant imagine anything wrong here as there is only the RX lipo, RX, speed control mounted on the nose. Blades were tracking nicely.

were you trimming with a full tank? if so, try half tank.

what engine and muffler are you using?

what size is the rx pack?

Th CG is perfect.

I pulled down the head and leveled the swash perfect. Then went up from there. all mixer arms lined up and main blades zeroed out at 50% throttle with elev/aile centered. I did see that a paddle was just a bit off and towards positive pitch which would cause the heli to nose-forward. I adjusted that and will see tomorrow morning how it goes.

As for the setup it has now it couldnt be better.
