Default ESC question

I have looked up the specs for the ESC, and according to

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/22...rade_Part.html

It has 'over discharge protection' Does this mean the ESC will not allow you to over discharge the battery? Anyone with a brushless system know?

Thanks

Does this mean the ESC will not allow you to over discharge the battery?

It will likely be a low voltage cut-off, which is a common feature of esc's, but all the same it's not something you would rely upon to know when to land since your heli is likely to drop out of the air if it kicks in...

It will most likely be set at a voltage lower than the battery would be when it has enough power for flight so it won't be too important.

It seems to cut off at 3.2 volts, a point at which I can't get off the ground with the brushed motor, and I can -just- leave the ground with the brushless. I think I ruined this battery, and need to get another, my RnD budget for this Heli keeps growing.

Dusty is right, if the low voltage protection kicks in, the heli first starts to spin and then drops out of the sky.
I had this happen two or three times until I noticed that one of my batteries was dying after about half the usual flight time.
