Default Intermittent problems starting trim flight?

Hi folks,

I'm having some trouble with doing a trim flight on my VX1e. I'm using the datapod to start the trim flight, but even though I'm hovering totally hands off on both sticks for 10s the trim flight is still active after I land.

It's a calm day, and I'm flying in my garden which is sheltered by trees too, and the heli really isn't moving anywhere.

I've managed a trim flight just last week on this same bird, and I'm making sure to keep the collective very negative during spoolup, and I'm going almost full positive before settling into the hover.

Any ideas what could be causing this problem?

Badly centering stick, or some inadvertant trim in the flight mode you are using, causing the Vortex to see it as cyclic input?

Disconnect the motor, or do it in hold, I think hold would work, and see if you can correctly invoke a flight on the bench. I think lights flash on the Vortex if cyclic input is seen, so maybe you could watch for that then.

Or, just go to transmitter live screen, and see if you can see if cyclic is reading off centre or centres unreliably. If it is, check for trims, or re-calibrate your radio, or increase the deadband setting, depending on what you observe.

Just some random thoughts to have a look at.

Cheers

Sutty

Do some ground testing and if you see the LED on the Vortex flashing blue when the stick is centred it means that the stick centring is not very accurate. After you confirm this is the problem you can increase the stick deadband a couple of point and will take care of it. Test both cyclic and rudder.

Thanks guys, went to the channel monitor on my TX and the sticks weren't centering properly. I recalibrated them and the bench test is working fine now, didn't even need to adjust the deadbands on the vortex.
