Question First Build: Main shaft and collars has me confused

N5C tt edition
doing the build and Im not understanding the position of the bluesh colored pinch collar.

Manual states that it needs to have its boss pressend against the bottom of the top bearing.
First off this means to me that I have to slide it in abovve the shaft for the bell cranks cause there is not enought clearance for you to slide it up past the bell crank shaft if you set it on the main gear and drop the shaft down.

Is this correct?

Also ( Im guessing for the e version ) the second hole in the mainshaft from the bottom goes unused.

Or am I completely confused here?

Send me a PM. You can bring it over to the shop and I can help you through all of your issues.

I have built more than a few. We can get you flying and ready for Todd's school.

yes It goes under the top bearing block first then slide the mainshaft down. there are holes in the frames to tighten down the screw. I usually set the lower collar and maingear first, then take use the top collar to take out any play. pretty much work your way up when you tighten it down. there are 3 holes in the main shaft. the middle one isn't used.

The upper collar is kinda hard to get in but you want to make sure the boss on the collar is facing the bearing and tighten everything on the main shaft stack from the bottom up to the too and finish with the pinch collar up top and once you are to the pinch collar you push down or pull up on the head to take all the up and down play out of the main shaft (can't remember if you push or pull. And you line the pinch collars screw up with the small hole in the side of the frame so you can put your Allen wrench through to tighten it down.
