Wrecked Blade 400 w/ repair parts and DX6i for $200

No, I'm not selling it! I'm an SR owner and a neighbor of mine has a wrecked 400 with all the repair parts and the radio and wants to sell to me for 200 dollars. Should I do it? Wasn't there some recall on the dx6i and should I be concerned with that?

That's kinda what I was thinking. I just found out how to check the date code so if it's a good one I'll get it. I wonder if spektrum will still recall it if I'm not the original owner.

Do it - you'll learn a load while fixing it and end up with a good, basic heli.

Bargain with radio included.

Actually having a TX needing the recall can be a good thing, they were giving away a free RX for your trouble when sending the TX in, not sure if they are still doing that though

I had once of the DX6i 's in the date range, it wasn't showing any bad symptoms though

I called Horrizon in the UK, they offered to arrange collection from my house, drop off at a model shop or drop into a Fedex Depot, all prepaid

I dropped it off at Fedex as I was passing, in less than a week I got the TX back
About a month later without warning another parcel arrived with a brand new AR6100 and a compliments slip!

I read that Horrizon US were sending a free RX and a box of Brownies! (I love that idea)

My friend bought an RC boat on ebay, bundled into the spares was an AR500 which wasn't working, well out of warranty, he sent it to Horrizon and they sent him a new one back without question

In contrast to Futaba, I had a 6EX 2.4ghz also on recall, I emailed the local office, they asked me to send it in at my cost, when I challenged this - they didn't back down

If someone sold me a defective product, recalled it and then expected me to pay in any way to have it fixed they'd be recieving a nicely wrapped Tx full of feces. That's not cool at all.

I agree, however this was another of my ebay bargain buys, it came with an electric aerobatic plane - reminiscent of the WOT 4 if you know it, the radio wasn't well described in the listing, I took a chance based on the grainy photo
I got a 48" span plane brushless motor with esc, 2200 3 cell lipo, Futaba 6EX TX and RX + 4 servos all for about £50, approx $75

I ended up keeping the plane and selling the radio on, it went to a friend of a friend, I made him aware of the recall. He wasn't bothered as the recall related to a coding issue on the 2.4ghz, only a problem when flying with others, he just wanted it for a foamy to fly on his own

I was amazed at a company like Futaba taking this approach, if I'd bought the set from new I wouldn't have let them get away with it

The Spektrum wasn't part of the recall. The pots work fine. Heli needs a new canopy, main gear (one might work, but it'll click), and blade grips. Everything else he had. I talked him down to $160, which he gladly took once I told him to hold cash to see how it felt in his hand
The box is the graveyard, on the floor in front of the heli are good parts (mainshaft, spindle, flybar, blades), and the dog is my girlfriend's. Awesome!

NICE BUY worth it for the radio gear alone and looks like an easy fix on the heli thumbs up

even $300 for 500 class with a radio would rock lol

I bought a trashed B400 for 120 w/ radio , cost me 20$ to send it to HH , they sent me a brand new DX6i !!!!
Upgraded to a 401 with some kick ass servos ,trex 450 canopy and this thing rocks!!
Talk about a steal on the 400 and not to mention the DX6i really wakes the SR up!
