Default Trex 500L review

OK guys to start out I've owned a 500 DFC in the past that I ended up selling. Still to date it's the only heli I ever regretted selling. It was a great heli all around fly great.
So I figured I'd give the new style a try since it's laid out like my favorite heli the 700L top. I hot the kit today and started right away building the frame. First thing I noticed is how wide it is. It's much wider than the regular 500 and to be frank it's a completly diff airframe lay out. Much much better design. So far everything is going together super easy and the parts quality is good.

I also like how they properly orientated the servos to the swash

I like the lipo tray system too

Is the 130X the largest heli you've owned/flown? How long have you been flying it? Of the 3 helis listed, I would recommend the 500L, but I'd be more inclined to recommend that you get a Gaui X3 first.

Ive had a 450l before but sold it after i took it full speed into my arm...you shuld see the pics.

Anyway, the blade ive had over a year now, and its taught me patience lol. Hovering for example is more chasing what it wants to do vs. being super stable. I want something thats gonna be stable, robust, etc. i have seen many 500 pro dfc for sale at a reasonable price, and even a lhs has a 450l for sale with a ar7200, tail servo metal mount, and other stuff with jt for $380. I like the fact the lhs has align parts in stock. Big selling point.

$380 for a 360mm size heli is a nice deal. You've already had one, so you know what you're getting. A 500L will be more visible in the air, more stable (although the modern FBL units are really making that a less significant point), easier to work on, and more expensive to crash.

The Trex500L is better than the Trex450L and the tail is much more stable.
The 500L has a reasonable price, not much more than the 450L.
The rotor head has the older concept and I think the 500 DFC upgrade is better.

But all together it flies super stable and a beginner could handle it.
There's only one reason to go for a 450 first: safety. The 500L is very dangerous, if it crashes.

Also with maintenance and batteries, cost increases and therefor I continue in parallel with my 450's.

But compared to other manufactured helis, the Trex500L is super cheap.
A Goblin 500 cost the double.

+1. My Gaui X3 cost:

Frame ($210) + ESC ($75) + BEC ($15) + motor ($78) + cyclic servos ($90) + tail servo ($75) + FBL ($125) + Blades ($30) = $698.

A 500 for $100 cheaper is pretty unreal.
