This phrasing concerns me. It's all future tense. I was hoping to see "is used" and not "will be used". Maybe the 450 is further out then we thought?

My Blade400 committed suicide this morning, and I think I'm done with it. It's become a money pit (more then the usual heli money pit anyway). I need a new 450 beater. I'm looking at the 450 Pro, but I'm not an Align fan. I could try and piece it together and hold out a month or so, but with no release dates, I doubt I'll wait for it after waiting 2 extra months on the Protos CF release.

Just buy a used 450 SE V2 from somebody moving up to a Pro, get your money's worth smacking it around, and add the P450 when you've smacked it enough, and after the first couple rounds of slipstream upgrades have made it through the pipeline.

In a 450, it's very useful to be able to pick up crash parts on your way home from an unhappy visit to the field.

Don't ask how I know. But Ed and Perry's kids should call me Uncle Jim.

You're probably right on the timeline. Honestly, just get the 450 Pro you will honestly love it, you just don't know it yet You can get it under $500 shipped for the complete combo, just add a receiver and fly. I had this kit in my hands and sold it to get the Protos, but it wasn't easy. The kit and component quality is really high and the frames feel super solid! The parts count is also very low and the design is great. John who flies at Sierra has the 450 Pro and it flies amazing. It's easy to not like Align from reading the forums too much (it's not cool to have what everyone else has). But no one I fly with has had any issues with Align.

Plus a 450 crashes often enough you want good parts availability and supply chain. The MSH supply chain isn't bad, but it's not great yet either. All too often I have to order from 2 places to get everything I need (such as the latest crash). The 450 Pro supply chain isn't all the way up yet, but once its up it'll be typical Align and you'll get everything you need everywhere. Plus grandrc is in Los Gatos and you can just drive there for parts.

Hey Jim/ Mosh,
Well I picked up a used T450SE V2 for $200 with a ton of spares, a 2221-8, and a CC35 phoenix ESC. This is $200 less then the Pro equivalent plus it has a better ESC and arguably a better motor. I'm not a big fan of torque tubes since I'm hard on the tail at my field which has tall grass and I like to do mini-autos with a 450 and I tend to bounce around a lot.

Here's the thread for the T450 I bought: https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=144586

I had him remove the gyro (I have a spartan(ish) for it already) and servos.

Seemed like a good deal for a big step up over my B400. Should compliment my ProtosCF well. Let me know what you think.

Cool, I think you'll like it. It looks like all the metal parts are CopterX parts and not the original Align. I've never seen what the CopterX part quality looks like. The price is definitely right. Have fun!

Yah, I did some research and everyone seems to think they are fine. I'll see. At least they are all new. I think I'm better off with this over a HK450. I just don't have time to tinker and repair. So I wanted the real deal. Maybe I'll throw on a V3 head at some point if there are issues.

OK, back to the regular topic.

i hope not, that means the CF boom (if it will be available) will be paper thin

and same with frames, etc etc etc

if it looks like a protos, be the lightest 450 size or as light as the Dragonus (lightest 450 out right now), and flies awesome

then it'll be a winner

The CF boom is an aftermarket upgrade. None of the Protos kits (composite plastic, or carbon fiber) have a CF boom. They are all metal (aluminum?).

Trailblazer and me had a tiny look into a big crystal ball...
If the new 450 will look as hot as the Protos 500, we will recomend to give it a new name (not Protos 450)!
What about Masturbatos 450 - or just THE MASTURBATOR?!

From RunRyder:

"We will not show the new Protos at ircha, we changed it drastically lately and there would be no point in showing an obsolete design.

Corrado"

I wonder if this thread had anything to do with the changes? The timing is about right.

Call me lucky: Instead of waiting for the new Protos 450, I have just finished building a Beam; and it flies like a dream

See ya'll at IRCHA,

I will gladly wait for MSH to make it perfect. I dont want a heli like Align that has fix after fix after fix at our expense. Im not into Align anymore just because of the "just hurry and sell it who cares if it works" mentality. Im sure he has good reasons for the delay.
