Forza 450 EX 2 blade and 3blade motor & ESC sugguestions
Hi Guys
I'm setting up 2 Forza 450 EX's on Vbar 6.0 , ones a 3 blade kit and the other a 2 blade . I need a little help please on what ESC's and motors to run . On the 3 blade i was thinking of the Scorpion 2520 1360 kv with a Koby 55 and on the 2 blade i was thinking the Scorpion 2520 1580kv with a Koby 55 , am i on the right track ? are the koby 55's enough or would it be recommended to go with a Koby 70 or 90 ? I dont want an animal on the 3 blade , want something nice and relaxing , but the 2 blade i want the animal ,so any thoughts and suggestions are welcomed i want to stay with Kontroniks for ESC and Scorpion for Motors so please keep this in mind . Thank you Andrew |

as you say "EX" I am assuming you want to run this with 6S Lipos? if so I am 99.9% sure the Koby 55A will be more than sufficient. On 3S, it is maybe a little be tight, I am using on my two Forza450 one with 357mm JR blades and HKII 2221-8 tuning motor a CC Pheonix Ice lit 75A and on my 2. with 325mm JR blades and stock motor a CC Edge lite 50A ESC and get sometimes on really hard flights a warning on the Edge ESC that I have "heavy load" I didn't reached the max peak current of 75A (setted in the CC software) I logged "only" 65A max. If I optimize the pitch management I get even lower peak currents. It is even a little bit higher on the Phoenix 75A, here I had 68A in the log, but of course no warning as the level for the peak current is set to 100A.
as a conclusion I would say: 1. 6S might be the better choice especially on the EX where you have the bigger canopy so no issue with the battery size, but I have ordered m Forza 450 before the EX was released, so have a 3S only and now too many batteries to move to 6S 2. a 55A ESC on 6S is more than enough also for 3 blades, if I re-calc. my peak current to 6s by dividing with 2, a Koby 55 is only "half powered".

Anything more than 55amp would be excessive. A Koby 90 is suited for a 550 let alone a 450!

thanks guys
i have a few more questions what head speeds are most common with the 2 blade on 6S ? i cant find anywhere any info on the 3 blade head speeds on 6S , are they running the same or lower than the 2 blade heads ? how low a head speed can i run on the 2 and 3 blade Forza 450EX's ? thanks again guys , i am new to 450's , i only have 700's so need to learn a bit about the 450's Cheers Andrew |

I am running my 325 blades with 3400 RPM and the 357 blades with 3300, that "rocks" , but you can fly also with 3000 or less. my idle Normal is 2850 RPM used for landing or smooth test in my garden...
Most likely, I am not a expert in pitch management, so I need the power, but 3300 is quite a good speed for the 2blade 357mm, and I think 3200 should be more than enough for the 3 blade, even if it has only 325mm blades... maybe you should order a 14T pinion for the 3 blade Forza to be in a better power range. I have a 14T on my 357mm blade Forza, to compensate the lower head speed compared to my 325mm Forza...
