Default Stretch headspeed?

I am overhauling my Protos with new servos, CF frame, maybe esc and stretch. Basic question, can the stock yge 60a esc handle the stretch kit, or should I upgrade?
Main question is what headspeed should I fly with?

Yes the yge 60 handles the stretch prôtos just fine I put over 800 flights on mine stretched (rjx 470mm) and never had a shutdown even on 100* days...

As far as headspeed I had settled on 2600ish Rpms for most of my flying and was using a 14 tooth pinion with the msh scorpion 880.

Fwiw I did think my esc was shutting down on me one time, during a flight at last years helifreak funfly... when it happens to you check the one way first

Could I run 3000 as high headspeed? Or too high? How would it fly at 2000? I like low headspeed sometimes for long flight times but still high enough to remain agile.

As far as I know the yge 60a / scorp 3026 880kv stock combo will handle 470mm blades just fine, seems most people run 13t pinion, 3rd bearing, 4mm shaft with the stretch blades. Not sure what that limits the max governed hs to (880x22.2x.8x13/92) at or under roughly 2200rpm.
I would reccomend running some strong batteries, the Protos is pretty light. When stretched, even with 430mm blades 3300mah packs balance nicely and don't seem too heavy. I would use a high C 3300mah or larger with 470mm blades.

I'm sure someone with more experience w/ stretch blades on the Protos will chime in with better info.

I forgot to mention I'm using the Brain fbl gov and I have a Zippy 2650 that I will use for putsin around, setup, warm up and get a Nano-Tech 65c pack for the rest of my flying.

3000 is way way too high for stretch and even for non-stretch 430 blades 3000 is still on the high side unless you run 55C+ batteries or unless you run so-called governed 3000rpm but in reality it bogs down to more realistic 2700-2800 under any load. With 470 blades, anything about 2450 is more than enough for smack. I'm not talking so-called "governed" at 2450 but bogs headspeed under any load. I'm talking 2450 under the heaviest load, which is achievable even with 13T, good governor settings and good batteries (e.g. in my case Thunder Power 70C 2250, Wild Scorpion 45C 3500). For more middle-of-the-road batteries, 2300-2400 is maintainable under the heaviest load, which is enough headspeed to do more than mild 3D and some light smack. For no more than mild 3D and sport flying, 2250 is enough and will significantly increase flight time. Again not just so-called "governed at 2250" but 2250 under the heaviest load. IMO, no need for 14T unless you want 2500+ governed HS maintainable under the heaviest load, in which case you better have 55C+ 3300+ batteries. At 2300-2400 HS, 2600-3000 are optimal capacity for 4min flight.

EDIT: Oh forgot to mention about the stock YGE 60A ESC. With 14T 2450 HS 470mm blades under the heaviest load (super fast continuous tic-tocs for at least 15 seconds) I got over-temp warning from the YGE60 (not low voltage warning but over-temp warning) but not complete shutdown. Just the warning beeps (I think periods of 3 beeps) that I had to plug in prog card to reset the warning (simple power off and on didn't reset it). With 13T same HS/blades I didn't get the over-temp warning.

EDIT: EDIT: FYI, this flight was powered by my strong Wild Scorpion 45C 3500 pack (517g). I put back 1800mAh for this 4min 2450rpm HS flight, 13T pinion, 20T tail gear, 470mm blades.
My Stretched Protos "Pistachio" Prototype [Note 4 1440p crop] (4 min 6 sec)

EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: For pinion to max sustainable HS reference: 13T -> 2450, 14T -> 2600, 15T -> 2750.

Thank you. I think I will set my headspeeds to 1800, 2100, 2400 with the 13t pinion that came with the stretch kit.

With 470 blades the Protos is quite sensitive to headspeed. You can feel even a 50rpm difference. I would start with 2000, 2200, 2400 and fine-tune from there for your liking from there.

For reference, here's a flight with 13T trying out low HS 2000, 2150 along with my usual 2250 back then with 20C 2650 packs. With your 65C pack, 2450 should be maintainable.
