Just dawned on me if you pay as a gift you are paying the fees anyway, so just use pp and pay the fees rather than gift that way they are still getting the amount they are asking.

There are no fees for gift option. I send money from my checking to my wife's checking (different banks) all the time. It does not cost any money for friends and family (gift), and it is the easiest free way to move money back and forth

PP fees for a seller are very straightforward...2.9% plus $.30.....
