Default Fishing reel noise

Just stretched my miniP. New belt. Snug. A little defection at pinion. But when I do aileron tick tocks the mini sounds like a fishing reel with a fish on. Tail is perfect. Pinion is looking a little worn. Should I make the belt even tighter? I swear it sounds exactly like a fishing reel.

Not sure I know what you're describing... I've had very few (no) problems running the front belt tension (front and rear) quite loose. If it won't move vertically on the main gear, slip off, or slap inside the tail boom, that is best.

Perhaps you could record the sound?

check the front idler pulley - the bearing may be dying due to lack of lube.

Mostly fly by myself. Hard to get video. It sounds exactly like a fishing reel when a fish is taking line off the drag.

If the issue you are having is only the weird sound then you don't need the video actually following the heli.
Recording with a smartphone works fine.

Prob a bad bearing somewhere. Most likely the pinion OWB.

Take all blades off and do some bench test spool ups to see if you can hear it and narrow it down. If you do this ungoverned, be careful not to go full throttle - You don't want to overspeed things.

Pinion had some weird tooth wear on the top of the pinion. Shimmed the pinion so it sits higher and uses the good portion of the pinion. Removed the counter bearing. See how that goes. Will probably go from the current 16T (damaged) to 15T pinion.
