Thanks for the flight report Bob!
But let me ask one question (sorry perhaps I didn't get it): In the flight report the tail seems to be perfectly stable so what gyro did you use in flight? The 401?

Thanks again for all your work and sharing.

Bob, watching your field report it looks like the Align ESC soft start is much improved, is it better then the
previous Align ESC ?

Hi, Bob!

Just an other question about the SolidG setup.

In your setup guide for the SolidG you could choose, among others, T-Rex 600N and T-Rex 600E. On mine I can only select a T-Rex 600. Do you know why it is like this? New/old firmware? (I got it back from "cleaning" today so it should be up to date now).

I got the answer from CY myself:
The gyros with the green stickers are the gyros that were sent back to the manufacturer for cleaning. They got the green stickers along with a version of the program that had the 600N parameters installed in the program. The one without the green sticker (they have a white sticker with “ inspected and cleaned by CJ Youngblood Ent” on the box) were hand cleaned by us and have only the trex 600 (ideal for trex 600E) in the program.

Bob..........

Anyway you could give us an idea how the 500 compares to the Lepton? I know you haven't had a chance to completely tune out the 500 yet but a first impression would be fine

Hi Bob,
I have a question on the setup of the solid G.

When setting up servo neutral, should i set the tail blades to exactly 0deg pitch like you did or should i give it about 8deg pitch on setup?(kinda like the DS760)

Even Curtis say CENTER it... This gyro does not even have a rate mode so no sense in even fooling with that.

OK I tached mine and Kevin's today.

Both Kevin and I are running same setup EXCEPT Kevin has the rotor tech blades and I have the original Aligns AND Kevin is running a set of K&B 30-50 sized tail blades which he cut down in length.

My heli
13T pinion 100% flat throttle curve brand new 2170 FP packs with 10 cycles
at 0 pitch on the ground was 2800
In hover dropped about 10rpm to 2790

Kevin's
13T pinion 100% flat throttle curve brand new 2500 FP Evo Lites with 15-20 cycles
at 0 pitch on the ground was 2800
In hover dropped about 110rpm to 2690

We think his head speed drop in hover was due to different blades and tail blades which are a little big for this heli... I can't wait for a set of K&B's made for this heli myself

So if you not close to these head speeds
1) make sure you DID program your ESC as it must learn the radio low and high throttle stick position.
2) Make sure your packs are good. Today a few more people showed up with 500s but used old 450 packs. It flew but you could tell head speed was 2400 or there abouts. Bottom line here is 2 3S packs must work well with each other. If one pack is weaker it will not allow the other pack to perform either! For you folks wanting the power then I suggest getting two 3S pack new and use them as a set so they are used an wear together evenly.

No not yet..... Curtis is sending me another one to make sure the gyro is not at fault and then if still a problem we will be looking at the BEC noise and solution if that is the cause. Anyway not enough data to determine the problem as of yet but I can say you will be OK on the 600 as this is strictly a 500 issue I ran into.

bob,
i've got a question about the mounting aspect of the hs-5245mg's. we all know we only get 2 sets of servo spacers with the kit. a third set of spacers installed on the fore/aft servo would get the link positioned straight up and down with the swash. however, we all know from your swash geometry video that the left and right lateral servo links are not designed to be a straight shot to the swash. what's the chance the heli was designed to have the fore/aft servo somewhat off-centered to better correlate the angle with the other 2 servos?

I'd think that being off in this dimension should have no effect on geometry as the angle doesn't change through the throw - that is the arm doesn't swing in an arc in that dimension.

I do note, however, that the two front servos with HS-5245MGs and the spacers on them leave the rods angled in toward the top...
