Exactly, so I've been contacting german friends for the last 3 months, and since I mentioned I wanted a V400 several times this person made me the offer today. Ploechinger doesn't sell abroad because he doesn't even have a translated manual, that's why an already built V400 is a good opportunity, and for further parts replacement I get them through this "friend" who is selling it to me as well.

I never cared about local distribution, none of my helis has it.

The 928 has been on my toy box list for years. I almost purchased one on a few occassions. Most recently a 1989 GT Black with manual transmission . I've always loved the asthetics of the 928.

Unfortunately we have some really hot summers here and even with front and rear AC units the 928 can barely keep a car cool around here. I always talk myself out of it.

My last Bavarian car was a 735i, but I've not had one in a long time now..

I've had it for about 15 years. It's a blueish silver. Ac works fine and it gets pretty hot here. The looks are kind of timeless. It's expensive for parts(especially) the later models. Mine has been pretty reliable though. It handles better than my 2005 e55. Power and exceleration are another thing. 269 v 470 hp isn't a fair comparison. 320 v 520 torque. I've never had anything but German cars. Vw BMW Mercedes porsche.
Actually I had an international scout in High school.

My 735i was only 189Hp with a 4 speed ZF-4HP transmission.

If I were so inclined today I think I would get a Panamera 4S.

Yea, I'm not sure what I think of the panamera. I wanted an m5 but I couldn't put three golf bags in the trunk. The e55 trunk is huge. It holds three 700's plus radio case, case of nitro and room to spare.

Default Did my 1st maintenance check

Man I tell you it feels good to own a TDR I just hit the 50 flight mark last week and so I decided I would do some small maintenance to see how things were wearing and just an overall check up.

- Greased all gears
- Broke the head down and re-lubed the o-rings
- checked all parts that didn't get thread lock and they were as tight as the day I put it all together
- Greased the main shaft and tail rotor shaft

I don't see an abnormal wear and the heli is flying like a dream. I took her out today and I drew a crowd of about 4 people in field where I fly (not AMA) and they all kept talking about how cool it looked and the sound it made at 1800 RPM Have to say that in all the thinking I have been doing about getting another 700 I might end up with another TDR and build it for speed.

Anyway just wanted share my experience so far and look forward to many more exciting flights. Hey if anyone has any common maintenance that I need to check outside of what I did let me know. Thanks

I think the manuals says you should also do...
- Check the pins on the "swash driver" linkage
- Check the pins on the tail pitch slider linkage
- Grease tail push rod where it goes through the holders

maybe there are more things!? it would be good to pin out those things here

gear play maybe

Also check tail boom that it didn't slip out a bit. Been hammering the TDR with 3D and found the boom to slip a few mm. This was evident by a funny sound during spool down...thought it had to do with gear mesh and I was right, the front TT gear mesh. I also reset the boom supports, this time with super glue after sanding the carbon rods a bit more and mixing the carbon powder in there.

I routinely check the gears and pinions for wear after seeing what happened with the Goblin, but so far there is none that I can see. Provided the gears are greased with proper mesh they seem to hold up very well, even when flying hard 3D. With proper setup I must admit the TDR is as near to fly and forget as I have seen a heli can be. :

Yep this heli needs hardly any maintenance. I replace dampers and some bearings every now and again

When I did an overhaul this spring after one season of flying I also cleaned out a lot of dust from the pinion and intermediate gear interface. Then just a few usual things: cleaned main and tail blades, checked servo horn screws (with metal gear servos they need loctite!), checked wiring for any rubbing, etc. Don't forget to relubricate the thrust bearings in the head and tail too. I was impressed how little maintenance the TDR needed.

Don't forget to check all the ball links. After 240 flights, some of them have more free play than I like, replaced them with logo 2.5mm ball links.

The one thing I need to do is grease the thrust bearings, I forgot about those.

Some day I hope to fly my TDR enough flights in a row without crashing to enjoy this low maintenance aspect of flying

Bigger is faster, but thin is fastest. No way in hell the XX will ever beat the TDR with that coconut of a canopy. I flew it and pushed it, and it feels slow.
